I think he still needs to gain a lot more strength and put some pounds on him to be not easily pushed off the puck because the NHL is a lot tougher. But his skill and shot are world class. I think the Kraken can be patient with him and let him get stronger in the minors.
Yeah, definitely he needs to gain full grown man muscles. They can take time to let him get there. His abilities though, it'll be worth the wait.

Small fanbase ..Kid's got 60 and leading point getter in the WHL. Where are the Kraken fans to pump his tires?
I am pretty excited about him but still trying to temper my expectations. Kids his size can struggle in the pros. How he performs in Coachella next season should be a good barometer.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how he(and his body) handles the jump from juniors to the pro level and what he does in CV next season.

Most, if not all, of the Kraken fans are pretty excited about seeing him in the AHL next season. However, the concern with him is around his size and how translatable his skills are in the Pros.
Definitely a very exciting player.
He may not give the Seattle fanbase what they want but if he tries sometimes they’ll get what they need.

Natural Hat trick for Firkus almost mid-way through the playoff game against Swift Current. This kid excites me, I really hope he can adapt to the pro's and help the Kraken.

Some players just don't have NHL bodies...Firkus is very light and that reminds me of Tyler Madden who, although a pretty prolific college player, just isn't strong enough to crack the NHL or even be more than an average AHLer. Maybe Firkus has other gifts that will allow him to compensate for his lack of size...next year in the AHL will be an important step for him.

You can’t help but love his game, but his production is much more like an overager produces because of experience and a skill set to produce against 17-19 year olds, not grown men. He’s much closer to a Klassen or a name people may remember from the WHL, Tyler Maxwell.
He’s gonna get his chance though. He’s definitely earned that, and it’s all you can ask.
The stat watchers need to be really careful though. Someone asked if he or Yager is the better prospect? It’s Yager by quite a bit.

you say Yager is better, i say Firkus is better
i think both benefit from each other, but Yager benefits more from Firkus
i also say, both are potential top 6 players in the NHL
Eh, while he's painfully scrawny, he's a unit compared to Maxwell. And his production year on year has been consistently growing as he's matured while a guy like Klassen (Chad right?) had that mid-WHL career dip. His growth wasn't linier. I watch a lot of MJ due to keeping tabs on Savoie and Firkus certainly creates a lot of things and it seems like he and Yager compliment one another equally. It's overcoming being a stick compared to other players that likely holds Firkus back but we knew that already.

Like I said, unlike a guy like Maxwell, he’ll get his chance. I’m never prepared to count anyone out. Tyler never got more than a couple camp invites. At least the league has come around enough where a Stefan, Klassen, Firkus will all get legit chances, and we’ll all get to see how it plays out for each player. Stefan recently signed with the Oilers and I’m sure someone will sign Klassen here shortly, as well.
So while they will all get their chance, 100 points in Juniors doesn’t automatically translate to any type of scoring in the NHL. Never has. Unfortunately, it seems less fans understand this today, than historically. My guess is, it’s due to so many fans strictly relying on stats these days, in determining their opinions about a player. Many times, a player they’ve never even watched play a game.
Yeah, and there is the long-standing fact that older players will be the primary offense and drivers should be. I’m curious to see if he’ll be able to overcome his physique when players will be outweighing him by 40 or 50 pounds of muscle.
