Gotta love the armchair fashionistas and psychiatrists coming out of the woodwork.
What does this even mean?

The only incentive here is the guy stepping up to act like a total tool when he is the furthest thing from a specimen and dresses like a villain in a B-list 80s flick. Some here don’t seem to understand the difference between “having a personality” and “simply being an ass.”

Nothing wrong if you think he's a goofball and you don't like goofballs. Calling him arrogant etc. however is just wacky, kid was having fun.

? lol wut

I didn't say he had a problem?
I said it was cringe...

He has also been documented as having a big head through the whole draft process. There was a reason why he dropped so many spots in both the rankings and the actual draft.
Again, big difference between having a personality or flair and being annoying.
You got a source on that?

There is a fine line between confidence and dbaggery and that line can be in a different place depending on the person deciding it.

You can see why he dropped. Not because of talent, but perhaps his interviews. I have never heard an interview of a player being drafted and saying he was the best looking guy here. Think he was trying to be funny. Will say this, if he keeps his head on right, he has a real chance to be a steal this draft. On talent alone, I would have had him in the 10-15 range. If any team can develop him it's TB.
Bolts couldn't develop Drouin or DeAngelo

Pretty sure their development staff would be very different today as compared to then.
Actually I don't think it is. In any case, we actually did help in developing those guys. We just gave them both the boot.

This kid seems more "fun" than wacky arrogant though. More of a Kucherov than a DeAngelo.

Who cares if he’s weird. He reminds me of Marchand. Says shit to shock and draw a laugh, likely not everyone’s cup of tea. But if his compete level matches his mouth as it does with Brad, look out.

He made some very light jokes and his outfight isn’t really that crazy. hockey fans really are the biggest f***ing losers

He looked like an idiot and it's good. Anything that's different from regular and boring NHL style is good.

NHL needs personalities. Douchebags, weirdos and everything in between.

No! Everyone must be as bland as John Tavares! No fun allowed!

I was pretty skeptical of him when I saw some people had him ranked like in the 10-15 range, but I would really like getting him at 31.

I think he will be very productive in college. Curious to see what kind of physical gains (skating gains) he can make moving forward. Tampa still has that skating coach that worked with Point? Could be a great thing for this kid.

He was completely normal in his interviews after the draft, answered everything normally, I think you’re reading into this too much.

Reasons he dropped

Option 1: poor defensive skills and needs to add more strength to his small size but high iq offensive game

Option 2: nah m8, he said his clothes looked good and that offended everyone.

Obviously Option 2, there's absolutely no way

Lol, I thought he said something 100x more controversial with the responses in this thread.

Given who was drafted ahead of him, it seems pretty obvious that Howard fell because of size. Seemed a bit that his game doesn't require size in the way that other offensie players do. He's as good, offensively, without the puck as he is with it. Shifty, sneaky, moves to open areas in good position to shoot. His skill/IQ/motor combo is just better than players drafted around him. I'd be more worried about his intelligence if he didn't show insight on the ice, and he does.

If NYI didn't trade the pick (obviously they did, and I understand the move), I was hoping for a trade down in the 1st to get more picks + draft Howard. I just like his game. Oh well, guess Tampa did too.
