Eichel is hardly a success story.

Fantilli can obviously play in the NHL next year, but compare the situations.

In Michigan he's the alpha, they'll probably give him the C, he'll have teammates like McGroarty, Brindley, Casey, and Nazar to play with, and they'll keep winning lots of games.

In Chicago it'll be even worse than this season, losing constantly, morale draining, and linemate options are a broken Patrick Kane and a broken Tyler Johnson. Maybe Reichel if they decide to play him at wing?

I'm sure that'll go swimmingly...

If instead he comes in for the 2024-25 season, suddenly they'll be an influx of guys like Nazar, Slaggert, Savoie, Ludwinski, etc, a bunch of our prospects fighting for roster spots. The environment will be competitive and guys will be looking to prove themselves. They probably even give him an "A" right off the bat.

That's much more conducive to his long term success.

At the end of the day, it's up to upper management to get the players for these guys to thrive. Every top pick had to come into a dog shit situation of a team. McDavid, Crosby, Ovechkin, etc. etc. Those guys had dog shit teams around them... it didn't effect their "psyche". If Fantilli is that weak minded then he was never long for this. You gonna say Bedard needs to stay another year in junior if the Hawks win the lottery and draft him?

If that's what you're basing your conclusion on, then I have no idea why you're so against Michkov then since it'll take him 3 years to get here.

No, Bedard is in a class of his own.

And also NCAA is a much better place to develop than the WHL.

But the expectation that a top draft pick has to play in the NHL immediately hurts more than it helps. Patrick, Kotkaniemi, Kakko, Dach, Laf, Sillinger... it often stunts development.

And Fantilli is better than those guys, but the point still stands.

You listing Sillinger (12th overall pick, wasnt even considered a top 3 pick), Dach (only you and a couple others had him as a top 3 pick), Laf (Rangers had to jump 11 spots to win the lottery and were a good team already so he couldn't get top line minutes on an established team) Kotkaniemi (who was an overdraft by ALL pundits because the Canadiens drafted on need at center instead of best player available) etc. isn't helping your argument.

Tankathon right now has the Blackhawks picking #2 and #26

#2 Adam Fantilli, Michigan
#26 Gavin Brindley, Michigan

To go along with Nazar would look pretty darn good for chemistry

It will be fun to finally see Nazar back in action this weekend! Temper the expectations with the time that he has missed, but it will be fun to watch none the less.

The Michigan Twitter account says nothing about this, and a news search shows nothing.

I would love to have Bedard but having a 6'2" Fantilli with wicked speed and a 5'10" Nazar with wicked speed would be great 1-2 centers. Eiserman or Cellbrini next draft and that's a great rebuild. Something to get excited about!
Where did you hear he was playing this upcoming weekend?
Or is it just hope you were conveying?

This weekend? Even his "considered" timeline was March at the earliest. I really hope this kid isn't rushing himself back (or he's a quick healer).

Oh I must have missed that. Last I read, they thought they were going to be able to add him to their lineup for tournament play.

Fantilli could play in the NHL next season and I think most teams would do that if they drafted him, but we know how KD is with being patient. The Blackhawks are going to be a tire fire next year, there'd be no real reason to expose Fantilli to that.

Also I rarely agree with the "nothing left to prove" sentiment. That's what leads to prospects getting rushed and ultimately becoming busts. Have you learned nothing from Stanley's many blunders?
I agree keep Fantilli in Michigan and continue to tank for Celebrini!
