Looking forward to all the posters who only post in this thread when Zadina’s struggling to stay clear from it until his next cold streak/demotion.

Three points. Two on broken plays/deflections/own goals. And a wristshot where he had all day to wind up and the goalie muffed it.

Not when I'd hit the thread crowing.

6 points in 8 games. He’s been playing great so far. When a lot of people wrote him off as a bust after just an okay first ahl season, we’re going to mention when he’s doing well.

Not really, who in their right mind would want a kid to not succeed.
Organisation fans who aren't hockey fans in the first place. Not a Zadina fan, and never was. i never believed he'd be an elite player in the NHL and still don't to this day. i had alot of arguements with wings fan when they teased everyone and laugh for teams passing on him but in no way i wouldn't want the kid to succeed because Montreal didn't draft him. The more Talent, the better for the league. Just not personally high on him and that since pre-draft.

I'm not discrediting anyone.
I'm also not being a fanboy.

Did you watch his games or just the plays where he got points? The kid could have 0 points this season and it would still be obvious to anyone who watched him that he’s taken several steps in the right direction.

I know he's taken steps n the right direction.
Three games ago, on his assist on the Ehn goal - I'll take that play over any of the three points he got two nights ago.
Because he skated hard. He stripped a puck in a battle and he delivered it. That's a big a play in my eyes.

Still - he's doing very little at 5 on 5. And that's a sign that he's not as ready as a lot of people seem to suggest.

Doing very little 5 on 5 cause he hasn’t been given a chance. He gets 5 mins of it each game

He looks as good as anybody on the Wings roster right now imo.

On a shift to shift basis, he makes plenty of smart plays and keeps offensive possession in the opposing zone. Something that Detroit has lacked a ton of this year. I think a lot of us expect a Larkin/Athanasiou level presence every shift from Zadina and he's just not that kind of player.

I don't believe that's true.
I think Larkin, Mantha, Bert, Fabbri and even a struggling AA have all looked better than Zadina.

Zadina looks effective camping out in the faceoff circle awaiting the one-timer. But his five on five play doesn't seem to have a signature yet.
But look, he's better than he was a year ago.
And he should keep getting better.
I'm just not sure what kind of player he ends up as. It's likely not the player I originally envisioned.

I dont think youre watching the games if you think AA has looked better. I didnt watch last night though so excluding that game theres no way AA has been better. Mantha has played one game since Zadina has been called up so not much of a comparison to be had there. Since his call up, Zadina has probably been Detroits most offensively dangerous forward outside of Fabbri. I dont agree that hes only looked good camping out for a one timer either, hes winning a tonne of battles and playing a well rounded gme that no one expected.

I've done this before but youre probably watching him more critically than you are other players when hes on the ice

It's a good thing the Habs didn't draft Zadina anyways. We'd have probably just rushed him into the NHL last year and destroyed his confidence.

Nonsense. Feleno is equally over-critical of all Detroit players.

He looked much improved against the Habs on Saturday, dangerous on the right wall on the PP. The NHL game appears to have slowed down for him, lets see if he can continue his progression.

Just noticed Zadina has 1 more point than Kokinaimi. What's going on with Jesperi? Sophomore slump?

At the time, I thought Montreal was nuts to pass on him but I think you made the right call. Jesperi is still 19 and in his second NHL season... Centres are more valuable than wingers.

The old "you're not watching" if you disagree with me argument.
I don't mind.
People laughed off my take on Hirose too. He's in the AHL now.

He's been injured on and off this season. When he returned from his groin injury and started to get back to form he got the Zadorov throw down. He still looks quite weak and lanky as well. I personally just think it a matter of time before he puts it together.
