Think he could make the AHL jump next year like Kulich?
That's not very likely IMO, Sale isn't nearly as ready compared to Kulich in terms of physical strength and skating. I mean Kulich already has a body of an NHLer as of now and he's a powerful skater. I reckon Sale will need more time to mature physically compared to other potential 2023 1st rounders... but he's a top 5 pick easily if we're just going by hockey sense alone... vision and passing skills are absolutely phenomenal for his age.

The big thing I believe is that if he came over this season, and was drafted as a member of the Barrie Colts - he wouldn't be AHL Eligible as a 18 or 19-year-old - giving him less flexibility moving forward.
At this point of the season, I bet his Czech team could loan him to the CHL. That way he'd be drafted as a European and would be AHL eligible next year or the year after.

The best example I can give is Cutter Gauthier is a January birthday (turned 18 on Jan 19 2022) and he was at the U18 in April 2022. Sale will be there unless his club team refuses to send him.
Fantastic, thank you.. Glad I misunderstood!

But he will be 18 in March and tournament is in April. That's why I ask.

If so then a bright light to U18 as kometa would send him.
It's given by year, so all 05 players can still play.. I thought such a big fan would know this:naughty:
I don't think Habs Fan Marc is explaining it right:D

Is it different than the Zadina situation because he was drafted and not loaned? Zadina got to play in the AHL right after being drafted out of the Q.

There are loopholes. I think if he is under contract with a European pro team when he's drafted he'd still be AHL eligible. But could be wrong.

Man was really hoping he would go to Barrie, I mean I am not a fan of our prospects running away to CHL, and rather want to see them develop in the ELH and other pro european leagues with men, but in this situation I think, that would be the best move for Sale to go to CHL.

I mean Kometa is a complete trash right now, team stacked with "stars" and mercenaries and still playing terrible. Fans are angry and want immediate results, so there is just no room for playing 17yrs old guys right now. He is just gonna be drowned in the 4th line with 8mins per game for the rest of the season. I dont think, thats good for his development, but what do I know right. It obviously was his decision, so be it.

Not sure if the demotion was recent but it looks like he will play on the 4th line today. Pretty sure he was playing in the top 9 a couple of weeks ago.

The U18 will be very important for Sale with how this is going...

Edit: And of course Sale scores today, haha.

Yup... U18 goes a long way in determining his draft spot as he's all over the place. He was very good at U18 last year as an underager so I hope he dominates like I think he can. Just not sure who his trigger man will be since Kulich was magic last year on one timers.

Has he ever played center? Seems to have skill set that could potentially excel in middle.

Here's all 3 goals. I'm a HUGE Sale fan but his shot release looks force and awkward to me. Best analogy I have is Katerina Siniakova in tennis who may make the hall of fame as a double superstar BUT her service motion is painful to watch. Same thing here.. beautiful play but ugly release.lol

It's interesting company he's keeping... youngest guys to get a hattrick in Extraliga is a strange distinction.lol

Craig Button on TSN just said that you shouldn’t worry about the production in the Extraliga because Pastrnak went through a similar situation in his draft year and he turned out just fine.

Does he not remember that Pastrnak played in Sweden in his draft year, not Czechia? And in Sweden he actually produced impressive totals in the Swedish second league?
