Try to read it again, what young Czech players who go abroad say, the lack of space for young players is a glaring ailment of Czech hockey, we all know it here, hundreds of articles have been written about it and many stories have been described. It's not my fault that you don't know. And as always, you play for whoever has the most insight, bigger than the fans of foreign teams. You are certainly enjoying it, I will let the further discussion be completely unnecessary given the experience with you and the above.
The Necas one is a beaut... he was on the 4th line last year and cannon fodder and an absolute whipping boy on HF... fans were asking for his head. He goes on a very nice 20 game heater and this means Kometa is great at developing. Those 41 games played 5 years ago are probably why he's becoming a superstar today.

Here is his draft year:

This is awful.. 41 games played at minimal minutes, loaned to Czech2 and played the Czech U20 as well.

Now he's awesome (let's hope he stays this good)... 5 years after leaving Kometa, spending a full year in the AHL and then 4 up and down seasons. This is exactly what I don't want to happen to Sale.

Here is his draft + 1 season:

He was a ping pong ball for 2 seasons and then ended up in the AHL for his draft plus 2 season.

The fact our best guys go to CHL, Sweden and Finland is very telling. The only good example I see of us with a young player in extraliga was Jiricek.

Including someone like Necas, for example, who was not only developed the same way but also by the very same team. I think he turned out just fine, NHL stats page seems to agree.

In his first game in his draft year Necas had 16:17 TOI (5:49 of it on PP), over the whole season he averaged 2:32 PP TOI. I think he played most of season with Erat and Kvapil as Kometas first line. I wouldn't say their situation was similar.

One of your "favorite arguments" was Kemell drafted #17. Slafkovsky drafted #1 after playing 14 minutes per game, Lambert also playing 14 minutes per game, completely unregistered. Now take a blind guess, what's Sale's average TOI this year?

It's a shame that the coach didn't understand it then.
A shame, is that unlike Zabransky, his coach has to worry about not getting his ass fired and doesn't have a dominant team as they had during the Necas days.

Thank you for your great contribution as well.

Where it falls apart for me is using the 'Necas is good' so 'Kometa can develop' argument. The Zadina is a good point tbh and worth considering as he did go to the CHL, had primo minutes and has struggled.

It could also be aruged that Zadina is the 4th best Czech on the Red Wings behind Vrana (Sweden then AHL), Hronek (CHL then AHL) and Kubalik (CHL and then a 5 year tour of Europe). 4 good Czechs and not one stayed in Extraliga.

Kaut stayed and he's doing much worse than Zadina.

Ultimately, we are talking about 5 players in 5 years. And that's my point, not much coming out of the Extraliga in terms of NHL talent...

Chytil did it after a year in the AHL but never really took off till maybe now.
Necas did it after a year in the AHL but also took a very long time to 'arrive'
Kaut still hasn't become a consistent NHL player (my fav)
Kulich went straight to AHL and looks to be a future NHLer
Jiricek went straight to AHL (and Plzen did a great job!) and looks to be a surefire NHLer barring injuries, drug addiction or a toxic girlfriend.lol
You could toss in Blumel I suppose but he's in the AHL.

It's nitpicking... we KNOW that the Extraliga does not produce NHL talent. The statement that most the first rounders stayed is true! However, it's 5 guys in 5 years. That's not a good rate. The Swedish 2nd league has more first rounders. So does Mestis. The CHL will have 5 this year.

If one can look at this list and argue the Extraliga is great at developing NHL first rounders then I honestly have to stop discussing it.

Where is the elite guy of the Extraliga here? I'd argue the best one is Dostal and he LEFT Kometa because he couldn't get playing time in the Extraliga to develop. Second best may end up being Kral who went to the WHL. Jenik looked great (CHL).

Best Extraliga guy in this draft - Kaut and then Lauko. This is not a great argument for staying.

Who is the star developed by the Extraliga here? Don't see one, might not even get an NHLer out of this year. Blumel has the best shot and he did stay. He's 4 years out of his draft year and in the AHL right now (which pisses me off).

2 stars from the Extraliga.. Kulich and Jiricek. Both in AHL now. Malik, Spacek and Hamara all left. A National team coaches son left the Extraliga to develop elsewhere (Spacek).

So the most successful draft pick in the last 5 years from the Extraliga today is Martin Kaut. Our most successful first rounder is actually Filip Zadina today. In either case, we're talking about 4 first rounders in 5 years.. or only 2 drafts in the last 5 with a first rounder in it.

Obviously Kulich and Jiricek should get themselves in the conversation in the future and I hope that it starts a trend of our star players staying at home and developing there.

But when I see coaches son (Petr and Spacek) playing away it doesn't give much confidence. Now you have a lot of Czech media commenting on Sale and how he doesn't have enough minutes too. Leaving seems a better recipe...

Come on Czechboy, good work :D:thumbu:
It'd be like saying the NLA is elite at developing NHL stars because Matthews played there.

The list of guys that developed in the CHL, USHL, college, SEL and Liiga and went on to become stars is massive!

Hronek did play for his hometown club his draft year. I do think the extraliga is improving of late for giving youngsters playing time.

I find that in the men's league, Sale just doesn't display the things that made him stand out against his peers

I don't know if it's the best playing environment for him right now

Send him to Barrie right now, Kometa is done. Getting 10 minutes at night on 4th line is horrible for his development. They´ve stunted Svozil and now this guy.

Watching the Kometa game now! Sale makes so many great passes and they don't get finished. His vision and hands are beautiful. I have no idea why they don't at least put him with a natural finisher. I saw him setup Flek (who never scores) and Stromberg (who does have 8 goals) with really nice chances. He's very slippery too.

First period almost over so hopefully I didn't see is only 2 shifts.lol

He is going to be under the radar with amateur scouts, because they see only points and not 10 minutes of icetime ever night. He is top line talent without question. Only if he was playing with Skoda Plzen, where he would get more chances to show himself, he would be praised as top 3 pick. Hope he is leaving Kometa as soon as possible, he is wasting his time there.

13 minutes and 1:20 of PP time... I'm ok with that tbh. I'd still prefer he go to WJHC.. have a strong tournament to get his name back into draft talks and then stay in Barrie. However, 13 a night and some PP time is not something I'll cry about. Being healthy scratched and playing less than 10 with zero PP time is infuriating. I'd also like a natural finisher to play with him.
