Craig Button on TSN just said that you shouldn’t worry about the production in the Extraliiga because Pastrnak went through a similar situation in his draft year and he turned out just fine.

Does he not remember that Pastrnak played in Sweden in his draft year, not Czechia?
Button wouldn't remember that.lol

However, Kulich stayed and seems to be on track to make NHL. I personally don't trust Kometa with prospects. Was hoping he'd go to CHL and am hoping he's in AHL next year.

and Mysak! He's not as shiny a prospect but has a game the Habs will love in a few seasons.
Mysak is going to be great bottom 6er and penalty killer, but i've expected much more, hope it is not habs prospects development system...

Button is really high on Sale, and honestly even though I think he's normally a little too high on the high potential, raw, big players...I actually think he's right about Sale. Not sure if he'll go top 5 or even top 10, as many other lists and scouts have him in the bottom 15, but he shows some pretty impressive offensive talent and I don't think his production in the mens league is indicative of his talent...pretty classic case of a player who's just barely ready for mens league but could also do with more seasoning in a lower league. My bet is that next year he'll improve his production a ton if he stays or if he goes somewhere a little easier for him will blow the doors off. If this kid ends up in the CHL, watch out.

He's one of the more skilled players in the draft.. the people who don't like him find him soft and perimeter, or that he only really produces off the rush.. I don't necessarily agree with those assessments.

Wonder if he has a good U-18s again if the perception changes.

The Czech U18 team is currently practicing/trying out. He hasn't joined them yet as he's a bit banged up from the playoffs. He will join them next week. If all goes well, it will be the Sale show.

One thing is that every time we see him... he is playing above his age. U20 as a 17 year old, U18 as a 16 year old and extraliga is mostly adults. This will be a good look with him against his peers.

I find he's usually been dominant against his peers.

But most of his games are playing amongst men where he doesn't really shine as much imo.

I wouldn't be shocked. Last year he was highly touted and Button's ranking was a lot less of a hot take. He was doing *historic* things in his age group. Button's the only guy who hasn't dropped him massively, and I suspect that's because he hasn't had any of that scoring this year...but he has improved and made steps, and he'll show it here when he torches the U18s.

In any case, we will need top performance from him. I'm a little worried about him being the main mover. I found his performance somewhat lukewarm in some matches. All the more he will be able to prove that he is the leader of the team.

I still remember Necas going to it and being awful. Michkov in VHL was bad too. Curious how he looks. We need him to be very good!

Do you mean the championship that was played in Slovakia? I was there for some matches.. I think Nečas played well.. What didn't you like? He was there for Finland's goal, but I don't think it was his fault. It was just an unfortunate situation. And besides, I think he played well.

I don't even remember that anymore:) But I know that he was very expressive in the game and you could clearly see the potential of a good player.
That's my fear.. if Sale gets 3 points in 5 games I will not be happy! I expect around 10 points to be honest.

I understand, but often you can't judge performance by canadian points alone. Even then, Nečas proved that he was an exceptionally good skater and playmaker. He has improved his shot a lot since then and is a player who can be a ppg player in the NHL. I'm a little embarrassed by Šale. Polud will be a player comparable to Nečas, I will be excited. If he is like Pastrnak, as Button compares him to, it will be fantastic.
Come on Edo!!

I still think Hemsky is his comparable. Great vision and hands. Needs to fill out a little.

I’ve been saying Hemsky for a while now. But the league is different. Hemsky would have more success today. He was really brutalized in a much more violent era. Concussions and just being forced too much to the perimeter. I think Sale is a Hemsky for the new era.

Hemský was a fancier and more dynamic player. Šále has got a terrific ability to get himself into dangerous areas with ease, and can be lethal (both as a passer or shooter) after getting there. I'm sure he'll be able to put up tons of points in the right scenario, however, he looked really soft and borderline lackadaisical when playing in a men's league this year.

Hemsky could really dance around the ice. I haven't seen that with Sale yet.
I think the U18's we might! Or, I'll have a new comparable for him.lol

Next 2 times we see him will be a different gig... U18 and he's that age and Xmas U20 and he'll be a first round drafted player against his peers.

It's possible he'll be in the AHL in between that in another league where he is playing against people bigger and older than him. So it'll be the same thing - looks small, needs muscle, not enough points.

So I'm quite excited about the next 2 tourneys to see him as 'the guy'.
