Dvorsky plays for a team that is a mess and has been a mess for the last ten years. Hardly anyone has become better playing for AIK. Can’t see Dvorsky staying. Where do you think he plays next year?

Trying to give some context for Allsvenskan teams;

In 2013-14 Pastrnak played 36 games with Södertälje SK in Allsvenskan, scoring 24 points (leading the team in points). SSK finished 12th out of 14 teams that season.

This season Dvorsky played 38 (regular season) games with AIK, scoring 14 points (11th on his team in points, but the highest scoring U20 player). AIK finished 10th out of 14 teams.

Note that I'm not comparing their playing styles; I haven't seen Dvorsky play so I won't comment on his playing style.

Polarizing prospect.

Lots of scouts question if his offence can translate to the NHL.

Risky pick for top 15.

His defence is very impressive however.

Best case scenario:

Anze Kopitar

Just one note on Dvorsky's offensive production. He has very similar numbers than Leo Carlsson had last year. Btw, Dvorsky is 6 months younger, so I do not see any issue.

Was hoping for more from Dvorsky so far in this tournament..

It does not look like any of his offensive tools are high-end outside of the shot and he has good puck protection.

Unfortunately he doesn't marry the puck protection with many handling moves, he doesn't have much deception to his game, and the passes he sees and executes aren't very advanced, just safe pro level moves for the most part.

Everything kind of came together for one particular play late last game.. where he had a 3-on-1, carrying the puck, with a back-checker coming back into the rush. Without an ounce of deception, he simply pulled the puck back to a passing plane and moved it to the middle lane, who had the defender already on him and the back-checker closing in. The puck reception was short lived as the defender and back checker stole it and nothing came of the play.

After first two games he was leading some 5vs5 stats according to this tweet.

Tweet: And still in the top 10 tournaments in terms of puck control time (PCT), number of entries into the offensive zone (EN), and entries with the puck on the stick (ENS) during 5-on-5 play.

Even as a Dvorsky fan, I have to agree with all of this.

Looks like a kid who jumped to pro hockey too early.

Takes no risks to produce offense, which is fine at the pro level, but you want him to be experimenting and trying things out when playing against kids his own age.

The thing about him that caught my eye is his balance and agility is atrocious. His speed and quickness is good. It's just a couple times where he was cutting through the o-zone with some shiftiness and nearly put himself on his back.

Not really concerned about his poor agility at 17 because it will definitely improve.

He is missing those highlight skills, but he is such a great overall package. What an amazing leadership vs. Germany. Comparing him to Bergeron or O'Reilly makes sense.
I think he is better prospect than Wright was last year,he is actually very good defensively unlike Wright(not saying he is bad defensively but Bergeron comparisons were really off)and also has potential to be 40 goal scorer

He’s a tricky one to rank for me

I absolutely love his game, he has so many translatable skills, but I question the overall offensive upside. He reminds me of David Krejci. That’s not to say he has that upside, but the way he plays the game is similar

I think people sleep on just how smart he is. He supports play at both ends of the ice so well. He’s also extremely gritty. he his. I think he’s going to translate as a C

For what it’s worth I think Pekarcik has been more of a driver for the Slovaks than Dvorsky has. I was hoping he’d be more dominant. I wasn’t able to watch the Germany game, but I see he was on fire today

He was in my top 10 all year. Loved him at the WJC, but I’m unsure he’ll hold onto a top 10 spot for me

You see the game vs Germany today? Guy was a monster and a leader to boot, scoring when the team needed him to and causing the team to rally. I'd say he just about handled the puck beautifully and had several plays where he was driving the offense by his puck handling in the o-zone.

I am very interested in how he does versus Finland (most likely to finish 2nd in the other group and Slovakia most likely finishes 3rd).

I caught the back half and still don't necessarily agree that he handled the puck beautifully.. but his inside game is a treat and he showed off which of his traits are high-end against Germany.. that's why he's rightfully thought as in the conversation in the top 10. He gets inside, his shot is lethal, and he can protect the puck well.

He is a good one. But he needs to leave Sweden to develop. NA or Finland would be the best. Maybe even back to Slovakia or Czechia which is bigger and better hockey markets than Sweden.

Too early to make it to WC in May?
