I watched the game and I honestly cannot think of any plays that would lead you to make such a statement.
Several rushes leading to scoring chances and nifty stickhandling. The whole team was awful yet he generated something quite often. If you made a poll on the Habs board of our most dangerous F tonight, it would be CC in a landslide. I would conjecture that even a significant amount of Pens fans would agree.

Debrincat comparisons were wishful thinking but no reason for him not to carve out a career similar to Rocko Grimaldi if he puts the work in.
Yes there were several that stated he was as good as maybe better than Dcat , which was definitely wishful thinking. Dcat does it all score goals, forechecks, plays sound defense, kills penalties and is tough as nails (even a few fights).

Caufield's promising playoffs might end up being the worst thing for his development. The team needs to be more patient with him. Let him build his confidence in the AHL and remember how it feels to be a dominant goal scorer for an entire season. Even if he was helping the team win, the habs aren't going anywhere this year.

The Flames let Mangiapane play 120 AHL games before permanently calling him up.

Wouldn’t DCat be considered not just a more complete player, but a physically tougher player?

People looking at the stats sheet, see 0g 0a = bad game, they are ruining him. classic hf

People who look at his stats have no effect on his career. Picking out one sequence in a game and using it to paint a broader picture of what he actually is as a player really isn't that much different anyways.

1 good sequence...

At fault defensively for 4th and 5th goal...

0 forechecking etc...

PP specialist who is not good 5 vs 5.

I mean, to be fair, he was also -3, and the chance looked pretty, but was a fairly low quality chance (backhand up against the side of the net).

I think it would be wise for people to temper expectations. I see him as having top 6 upside. People talk about him on here as if he's a guaranteed star or franchise player.

Yes, Debrincat has been better. But, Caufield doesn't have the luxury of playing next to Kane or Toews like Debrincat has for most of his career so far. Caufield will still be a good goalscorer in this league. To be fair, Debrincat as really stepped up his play every year since entering the league. Expecting 20yo Caufield to be similar to 20yo Debrincat isn't the same as expecting him to be like 24yo Debrincat.

Well, I've watched the whole game. You see mutliple posts saying he was invisible and didn't create anything which isn't true as shown in my previous post. Not sure how it's similar in any way.

There were 3 scoring chances on the same sequence, but yeah it was a blowout. A lot of people on HF wants him to fail because he's a habs prospect and you have habs fan thinking is the next Ovechkin.
I'm not even his biggest fan, far from it, but I see so much crap in this thread I felt like I needed to post. I agree with you with the top 6 upside. Ideal scenario is Debrincat, if not, he'll be something like Mike Hoffman/Mike Cammalleri.

20 years old....
I guess we should right off every Avs prospect 20 and up who aren't bonafide top line players yet?

What did he create in your video? One low quality shot, backhand at the net basically on the goal line, then he walked into the slot and turned the puck over. It looked flashy, nice job getting around the defense, but he didn't create any scoring chances for his team out of it.

I'm really torn. He's good enough to be on the team without question, but the team is such a dumpster fire I feel like development away from them could be the better option. Goal scorers are all about confidence, and there is no way you are going to build confidence on this Habs team this year.

I don't think it is a stretch to say you likely watch him with rose coloured glasses on. I am not here to shit on Caufield. I just don't think a 30 second clip is all that relevant or makes any real difference in whether the Habs sending him down and then calling him up 2 weeks later was the correct thing for him as a player. Maybe you do? I do not exactly see what they accomplished, why even bother sending him down in the first place?

I didn't even know that was the argument we were having!!
I'm just here to say, let's pump the breaks before we call him this and that, it's one game. Let's not label the kid as a PP specialist who can play defense just yet. Same I was doing when Poehling scored 3 goals + Shootout winner in his debut.

If you can't see 3 scoring chance here, I don't think we should exchange much further. Thank you

I wouldn't make too much of these shifts one way or the other. In any event, his team laid an egg. At one point, Chiarot & Petry were forming a conga line on the right side before the Crosby goal.

Watching him play he has lot’s of skill but he looks so small can’t see him hanging with the big boys in the nhl
