This is clearly the best move at this point. I don’t buy the star hype with Caufield at all - too small and too slow to hit that level, sorry Habs fans - but his shot and offensive instincts are simply too good to not be a quality complementary guy soon. He’ll get some confidence back in the AHL before almost certainly finishing the year back in the Canadiens’ top-6.

Agree.

He changed his Instagram profile picture and took Montreal Canadiens out of his bio.
Maybe a little upset about being sent down. A little childish on his part he's a first year pro you can play in the minors if your organization thinks his not ready

It's more the lack of maturity here, that is concerning, than anything else. He's a talent for sure, but you need more than just a great shot, to be a good NHL player. It's the right thing for the Habs to send him down, let him work on his game, and grow for sure... he just needs to get over the tantrum, and get to work.

Another reminder that just because a young player does well one season does not automatically mean they will improve the next season.
He didn’t even play well for a season though. Just the playoffs which is even a smaller sample size.
Still think he will be fine but it is a cautionary tale of needing a larger sample size than just a few games.

He isn't playing on the canadiens right now.

Maybe you are reading something that isn't there.

lol everyone freaking out,, theyre pretty much saving him from Ducharme right now

this is the same crap he had to deal with at Wisconsin..they need to put him with a centre that will feel him the puck in the hot spots on the ice for the one tee

Remember the WJHC?? They put him with a bum like Boldy and nothing was happening,, put him with Zegras and he won them the tournament

time for Habs to step up and put hiim with a Zegras style centre

You think Zegras's grow on trees?

You're on record predicting Suzuki would be a top 10-15 center. How is that not good enough for CC?

Also, Caufield was absolute trash at the WJC, while Boldy was actually really good.

Caufield started poorly while playing with trash players (players that dont know how to play with him)

Suzuki doesnt play Cole's style. Cole needs to be set up for that one tee like Laine..He cant pass it to himself....

If he has such specific linemate needs, it's probably a good thing that he's been sent down. He needs to develop the ability to create on his own if he's going to be a top 6 winger.

He's depending too much on his wrist shot which is NOT top NHL caliber. It's good and it took apart every league...but not at the NHL level.

I'm concerned a bit that he's not taking this AHL stint in stride. He needs to realize that he's not going to score like he did in junioors so he has to keep adding to his arsenal. Quicker first step and quicker getting his shot off are the first two things he needs to work on.

So it's everyone's fault but Caufield.

Bum like Boldy. That's an impressively ignorant statement that only outs you as a Caufield apologist.

Prospects that are drafted and playing junior or some cases in Europe have the team that drafted them name in their bio.
It doesn't mean anything just found it interesting how quickly he took it out the same day.

Absolutely thrilled.
