I'd have no idea what a team would get from Lucius at the NHL level. Great scoring instinct, but everything else seems average to poor. Is there a part of his game that could limit his opportunities?
Sounds like Seena Peeters. Maybe wont even get drafted. Maybe he’ll be better his second year of eligibility

I think Lucius has the best chance of any player in this draft of becoming a high impact player in the NHL.

Who is the best pure goal scorer in the 21 draft class? How does Lucius match up compared to the others in the class?
Any way he slips to the bottom third of the first round ?

That might be easy to answer, since the 3 best pure goal scorers all play in the USHL. Lucius has the best goal per game ratio. There is a chance he slides, his skating and size are just average so far. Love to see Montreal get him, because his intelligence and leadership qualities are off the chart.

Won't play in the U18s. I think he'll end up going somewhere between 11 and 20.

Between the Q players being absent, Covid casualties, and the 2002 born prospects not qualifying, there isn't going to be a much clearer draft picture emerging from the tournament.

I think this is going to be the first 'fun' draft in awhile, even if most of the reasons for that aren't ideal. NHL draft lists vary a lot, but I think this draft could be wild, with more off the board picks and perceived fallers than normal.

The United States National Team Development Program has produced a number of top NHL prospects in recent years. This year should be no different, and top-line centre Chaz Lucius is a player who should be highly sought after in this year’s draft class. Lucius played 13 games with the Under-18 squad this year, putting up 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points. He has battled through injuries in this strange COVID altered season, and thus missed the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. Despite this, Lucius is expected to be ready for the 2021-22 season. He is committed to playing for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers next year.

In 2019-20 Lucius put up 31 goals and 19 assists for 50 points in 46 games for the US NTDP Under-17 team. He also got a short call-up to the Under-18 team, putting up two assists in six games. Lucius was impressive at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. In six games he scored seven goals and three assists for 10 points, helping the US squad to a silver medal. Lucius led the tournament in goals and points and was named to the All-Star Team.

Different than a lot of the forwards in the early part of the draft, he plays inside more. Most of his goals come inside the slot or crease. Big heavy body with a strong release.

He should go after Sillinger. It's clear that Lucius can't drive play with that skating. Prospects such as Bourgault give me better sleep at night since they can play inside and they can skate better. If you want a player who can make in tight plays and close checking hockey then Stromgren is your guy.
