If only there wasn’t a change in coaching that leans towards playing more senior players, like the exact same thing they did in Mankato.

Progression isn’t always linear. I won’t write the kid off until he doesn’t make the leap to the next level.

It’s probably dumb, but I still remember his showing at the WJC. Completely different player than he has been as a Badger, and probably what led to his draft position.

He was moving his feet, physically engaged and displayed surprisingly deft hands and touch.

might just be a situational issue and UW is a bad fit, or he could just be a late bloomer. The important part is that he has size that you can’t teach. If he commits to a blue-collar game and keeps the motor going, he’s an NHLer.

Judging by their final rankings, they played the better players to win games and not nepotism based on college experience.

Take away production for just a second, I don’t see anything overly exciting about the prospect. He skates well for his size, but I don’t think the puck skills are particularly good. He’s not a natural playmaker. He’s supposed to have high end compete but I haven’t seen it.

He’s a 6’3 200+ center. He skates well for his size. He’s a very good defensive player. Very physical. Wins most puck battles. Good on face offs.

Has shown good offensive abilities everywhere other than Wisconsin.

In the games for Wisconsin this year that I watched, he wasn't very physical, at least compared to his NTDP and international tournament self.

And that's the problem Pavel, the offense isn't developing. Just like John McFarland, one can't tear up minor hockey, a year or two of junior, and then not progress to have us continue to believe in the offensive game.

Or Wisconsin is a terrible environment for him and he'll succeed afterwards as he has before. This discussion goes in circles. I think everyone recognizes this season hasn't went well. Once it's over we'll find out where he's going to be playing next season. I don't know why this season needs to keep being rehashed. It's unnecessarily dumping on a player at this point.
