I mean, not really? The truly elite offensive forwards aren't spending their D+2 year in juniors. Some not even their D+1 year. So it's a rare tweener-combination of a player who's obviously great at the junior level, but their overall profile isn't that of someone ready to make the jump.Probably not the greatest guy to be compared to but impressive that nobody’s done this in 25 years
The whole point is he is a “prolific scorer” at the junior level and the team Canada team who had trouble scoring didn’t take him.I mean, not really? My mistake -- I assumed the whole point was it was "impressive" that nobody’s scored 400 in the W in 25 years. The whole point is he is a “prolific scorer” at the junior level and the team Canada team who had trouble scoring didn’t take him.
400 pts over the span of 4 years is impressive. How many other guys over the last 4 are averaging 100+ points a year?My mistake -- I assumed the whole point was it was "impressive" that nobody’s scored 400 in the W in 25 years.
He’s got over 2 points a game with the them though. It seems like they are getting their money’s worth.I think if you don't count the pp shift, Cristall plays the fewest shift among Chiefs' top6 forward. Chiefs always play Catton-Van Olm as the last shift in the PK, so the first line will miss the next 5on5 shift.
Chiefs still need to figure out what they want to see from Cristall, and now their use of him is not worth the price they are paying for him.
And this is against the best team in the WHL1G, 3A and that's just the 1st period. LOL this kid is ridiculous.
Should be a close race. Will be exciting to follow him vs McKenna and Misa for top CHL scorer. Hope McKenna gets it cause he's D-1 but should be a good race.
How impressive is it for a 20 year old, 2nd round pick to be dominating in the CHL? Just wondering about recent comparables.
Stankoven was a 2nd round pick who put up a similar great PPG in the W as at age 19 and 20.
Cristall's current 2.38PPG is the highest D+2 season in the WHL over the last 15 seasons, surpassing Matt Savoie, who had 2.09PPG in his D+2 (15GP min.). Based on his production, I think he's very likely to be a top-6 W for most of his NHL career. After the WHL, he will likely play 40 to 100 games in the AHL, then go on to the NHL.How impressive is it for a 20 year old, 2nd round pick to be dominating in the CHL?
