I'll compile puck stats for the entire Finnish team, I really want some clarity for where the problem lies. I'll post the results in the Finnish team thread in a couple hours.

How many give aways Jokinen had........... he is breaking records

How many give aways Jokinen had........... he is breaking records

These are only 5v5 stats. Now done with the first period.

Jokinen had only 4 meaningful(not counting completely trivial stuff or the disallowed goal) actions with the puck that I recorded. There were no real giveaways but one scenario where he got the puck stripped off him right after receiving a pass. Apart from that, he won 1 loose puck situation and made 2 good passes.

For comparison, Jokipakka had 22 actions with the puck in the first period. Well, I guess Ds naturally get more actions with all the passes to avoid forechecking. Joonas Donskoi had 18 actions with the puck in the first period and Filppula had 15. Forward comparisons might be more relevant.

The only player with less actions with the puck than Jussi Jokinen was Mikael Granlund, who only had 3 actions with the puck: 1 good received pass, 1 good pass and 1 bad pass.

Doing second period now.

Refs made this game boring.

Swedes are going to be tough.

Ristolainen is a beauty.

Vatanen was bad again.

Jokinen needs to come off the Barkov-Laine line. They need a bit more pop on RW... maybe Donskoi.

I'm expecting that to be a brutal game for us, it takes about a week to get used to time difference and they won't have that much time in NA before the USA game.

Yea could be. Young guns got good defenders but I expect there to be more space and less focus on Laine, so he'll score at least one.

Would be interesting if Urheilulehti did statistical analysis on Jokinen's stats etc. I found those pretty interesting in last spring's WHC.

No kidding. Canucks fans can be happy they finally have a legit elite line.

First since burrows was scoring 30 and Daniel 40 along with 100 point seasons... Oh and vrbata had 31 with the twins two years ago.. So.. Not that long. The twins just make players better period

Yeah, those stats are cool but analyzing the stats is pretty easy when they have been collected.

Sedins were unreal. That's going to be a fun line to watch for Canucks' fans.

In my analysis, I'm at 27 minutes now. If you're curious, the 4 shots on goal that Finland has had at this point:

Komarov, straight at the goalie from far very away

Koivu, sliding failed pass

Granlund, a wrister from slightly closer than blue line

Määttä, a weak shot from blue line

The only "real" shot was Granlund's by this point.

Filip Forsberg ***
Mikael Backlund *(*)
Jakob Silfverberg **
Nicklas Bäckström ****
Loui Eriksson ****
Daniel Sedin ***
Henrik Sedin ****
Carl Söderberg ***
Carl Hagelin *
Patric Hörnqvist ****
Gabriel Landeskog **

Karlsson **** (The new Wall Of Pain! Or Son Of A Senator or whatever...BUT PASS the puck on to Henrik so gets closer to goal when he gets the puck, I start to doubt Karlsson's hockey sense a bit)
OEL ** (OEL - Karlsson - Sedin is a catastroscope)
Hedman ***
Strålman ***
Lindholm **
Hjalmarsson ***
Ekholm ** (played forward most of the time)

Lundqvist * (two softies, heatstroke and not in shape, worrying to say the least, two classes behind Goalie USA by now)

New lines please:

Landeskog - Söderberg - Hagelin (more defense and speed as a weapon)
Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Forsberg - Bäckström - Hörnqvist
Rakell - Backlund - Silfverberg (more power)

You can not be serious?

He had one great play in the entire game, that was the hit leading to Horner's goal.

Aside from that he was invisible/underwhelming (compared to what he usually plays/should play like).

Best Swedish defenceman for me, was Hedman.

Laine was/is a joker, nothing more, people have act like he is a proven superstar, a selääne in his prime. Laine is still a very intresting joker going into this tournament, but the hype as been to crazy. He did score only 33p in 46 games in the finnish league after all.

Sadly because he's a vet and this is Finland I highly doubt it's going to happen.

Hopefully they are ready to go on that game, if they lose that it's almost over already

Jokinen is a 60 point player in the NHL and this is a tune up exhibition, lol.

Everyone needs to relax on that front.

He had more than one good play in the entire game. He was easily our best puck mover for one thing. He played just like he usually does.

You want me to mention good plays I can do that, if that change anything.

He looked like that at the Worlds too, he's not a fit with Barkov.

EK makes BEAUTY hit that leads directly to Swedish goal , but then falls alsleep and gives Haula all that room for Finnish goal couple minutes later. I loveeee Swedish hockey players, but EK just does not do it for me with mental mistakes. I don't care about adv stats in his case. Sens won't win with him being their 1D adv/fancy stats or not.

Agreed. Poor Barky has better linemmates skill and CHEMISTRY wise in NHL than he does for his national team. Kinda sad if you think about it. Him having to carry load up front on that line 5 on 5 will mean semi final game best case.

How many give aways Jokinen had........... he is breaking records

Now that we are done, Jokinen had the worst % in the game with 58.6%. Laine had 62.5% and Barkov had 66.7%. Jokinen was the worst and Laine was the third-worst(Granlund was second-worst), Barkov was tied for fourth-worst.

However, worth noting is that Laine had 40 actions with the puck while Jokinen had 29 and Barkov 39. Even though having a low % is bad, just getting many total actions is still a positive thing.

Granlund is in the same boat as Jokinen as Granlund only had 27 actions(59.3%) while Koivu had 43(67.4%) and Donskoi 42(78.6%).

In short, Granlund and Jokinen were by far Finland's 2 worst forwards and Laine and the tied 66.66...% group come soon behind. The best forwards with the puck were Filppula and Donskoi. Komarov had the highest % at 85.7% but he only had 18 actions whereas Filppula and Donskoi were accomplishing a lot of things. Also, Laine-Barkov-Jokinen was ass(Barkov included) and easily Finland's worst line. All other lines had at least one player getting high stats here.

Karlsson and OEL were fine. They are not going to be leading the offense in this tournament like they do on their own teams. So please lower your expectations for them this tournament.

Sorry - you don't get "lowered expectations" in a best-on-best tourney.

C'mon! He had two great HITS! Not sure if both were on Barkov but we are starting to handle the dude. Didn't reCOGnize much lost pucks or mistakes. But he DID not give Henrik pucks to work better with. ***? (World's best Karlsson) As soon as we start to think the game is won Finland scores, typical... (Jaha, fotbollssnubbe!)
