What an entertaining period. The start looked bad, but I really liked it otherwise. We look ten times faster and tenacious out there than in Sweden. I don't think Aho lost possession even once, I'm calling a 50 point season in the NHL at this point. Laine looked very good too, setting up Finland's most dangerous chance(s). D has been a bit shaky, but overall as a watcher this has been very fun.

Aho didn't lose possession and he always made a good play from what I saw. Never easy "whatever" plays, always something actually good.

This is seriously way better than anything I could have expected. I know it's only one period but damn.

The 1st 10 minutes were pretty pathetic from Finns and especially from the defense.
But they started showing potential as well, and signs that they were finding their skating game.

That post did wonders for Laines confidence.

Laine is going to be good on the PP even in NHL. He has 3 options it seems, either shoot, cross ice pass or pass to the center man.

Aho is super smart in his decision making. Makes the most intelligent decisions even in small space and in a quick pace.

Man is this game quick. So entertaining. Both goalies have been excellent.

It's not hard to guess how much the travelling affects Finland, jesus they played like 3 days ago in Sweden. Can't expect to have a fully competitive Finland in this game.

Solid hockey in the 1st. Really impressed with Aho, I knew he would fit right in.

Oh and yeah, Laine definately looks like he is going to spend year in the AHL.

Aho showing off his intelligent play again. Love his game. Laine has been good too, Vatanen could put his passes in Laine's wheelhouse better.

As much as I understand Marjamäki's logic behind not swapping players often, there needs to be a line. Jokinen never really fitted in with Laine and Barkov in the WC and it's been the same here, I think it's time to swap him with Aho.

Remember when Vatanen was actually confident in the offensive zone ? Honestly that's where his strenghts should be, but he's looking like a rookie playing his first game against big boys.

He's been really bad in these pre-tournament games.

I want to see Laine work with elite QB on the PP. Also i've been cautious when it comes to Patrik, and it's very much evident he's got a lot of work to do with the small rink, but he's also learning new stuff by the minute. The way he powered and stickhandled himself through 2-3 US players at the end of a long shift was amazing.

Laine with a good defensive play.

Penalty also. But probably not the worst penalty.

Here is my question: Why did Laine have to first cover to the defensive zone and then was forced to defend right in front of the net? Was the second defenseman sipping some tea?
