if it was up to me i'd definitely force him to take murray, keefe, tavares.

i guess he signs holl and kerfoot as ufas since he didnt want to trade them.

btw the dubas fan club that has been anti leafs since he has been let go can also join him and the pens board.

its disgusting reading posts that on purpose want the leafs to do bad just b/c dubas isnt here; heck i hated every second of dubas; raised alarms about the construction of the team and how badly it was managed but was never actively cheering for bad things to happen to the leafs. i am seriously disgusted by those posts
Who as been anti Leafs and has been cheering for bad things to happen to thev Leafs?

You realize how insane you sound right?

This whole board was so negative for his whole tenure with some senile posters who were upset we hired someone younger than their kids, it doesn't mean that these posters wanted the team to lose.

No actual fans want the team to do badly, just like outside of a few posters no one here wanted the Leafs to do badly when Dubas was in charge, just a difference of opinion on what is best for the team.

I for one am not sold on Treliving, I think he will make some bad decisions based on his history, but am hoping for the best and I like him more than a lot of other options.

I also find it puzzling how so many people who were screaming for results and experience now are fine with someone who has essentially the same experience and results as Dubas being put in place. Not to mention the amount of people that are fine with Shanny now that he fired Dubas, it is insane to me.
I wanted them to lose the last 2 years to rid us of Dubas. It's what the team needed to get back on track.

It's why I couldn't watch the last 2 seasons. I knew it was pointless. And Wanting them to lose does not make for fun hockey watching. I said call me when Dubas is gone and that time has finally come.

It's real scary he would've survived another failure though. As long as we have shanny I think we have problems still. This entire mess is on him. He gambled on a rookie GM... Went bust and managed to get f***ed by him. Lol

How MLSE didn't fire Shanny the next day is beyond me. You couldn't look any weaker.

So far. Give it time.
They‘re happy, they see a light at the end of the tunnel too bad it’s a train coming right at them…….

Money does not cure mental health issues. If it did, many would be alot better for it. The guy is a lying weasel and he further proved it by agreeing to the Pens job on the weekend and waiting to announce it until 30 minutes before the Leafs introduced his replacement. He's got the cash but here's hoping he enjoys a pressure filled season when the Pens continue to shit the bed.
I’m personally looking forward to more press box tantrums from boy wonder………

There are rumors that Shanny is back to his old tricks, Poulin is quoted as saying that Shanny ghosted him for months before he was let go. Apparently some MLSE employees are reporting no contact with Shanny, noting that it was common for them to have regular contact with Shanny before Dubas left. So yes there will be people who are let go and some people who will quit on their own.

There is also the trust factor, who is going to be a back door information leak for Dubas if he is looking for some insights into what the Leafs are doing behind closed doors? Those people need to be identified quickly and shown the door.
No doubt that snake would have spies reporting to him, I’d axe the Soo crew or any other snake minion left at MLSE……..

I think most people were happy when Punch II was turfed.
The jumper cables story at the airport was classic, Imlach‘s car needed a boost and Hutchinson drove away waving his jumper cables at Punch…….good times……..

Who cares at this point. MLSE screwed our cap up, let an idiot GM deplete our assets and then the guy gets a promotion and a raise in another market while being called a great success story. It's full blown clown world at this point.

Let them leave, fire half the rest and run a smaller more efficient shop. How can anyone be fan and not see this joke playing out before our eyes.

The only thing I care about is losing assets for nothing. Do not lose assets for nothing and get reasonable returns on what you ship out. If they can do that, we're on the path to fixing it.

Pridham may be the most qualified person on the planet for interpreting the CBA and the Cap. That was, you know, his job. He’ll be able to exploit every technicality and grey area to find even the slightest hair of an edge

You cant minimize every advantage you can have
To bad that he couldn’t impart that knowledge to Dubas that it’s was bad to spend 50% of his cap on 4 similar forwards

I'm not so sure now that those tantrums weren't performative for a further end. Maybe to give Shanahan cause to not extend him at season's end.

There is a theory which says the purpose of the Dubas counteroffer (much higher salary + perks) was to get himself fired so he could take another job, Pittsburgh as it turned out.

I think it's as simple as Kyle having this deal in his back pocket for months. Nobody in their right mind puts a gun to MLSEs head at the 11th hour without a backup plan. You have to know the odds are low. If they give it to you.... You just pulled off some shit. If they tell you to take a hike... You get the job you wanted elsewhere.

Not that complicated. Kyle just went about it pure cutthroat. Lying through his teeth the whole way through.

I subscribe to this theory being the final chapter in the overall saga.

Let's face it, it's not Spezza this thread was created for.

The odds of Matthews getting 15 in Pittsburgh? Marner and Dubas reunion?

At the very least it will be a source of "potential" offers that will drive our next contracts through the roof. It was bad with imaginary offers for JT, imagine real from Dubas trolling Leafs.
If you are worried about all that, then maybe these guys aren’t the right guys.
Make fair offers but don’t be held hostage.
Set your internal salary structure and if some players just want to keep taking, move on.

Pridham would seem to be a possible target. Seems to be very respected and a so-called cap genius. Dubas said his new GM in pittsburgh could be "someone who is ‘progressive’ and might feature a skillset he doesn’t have.". Not sure if Pridham is that guy, but I think with Dubas's ego, as VP he's going to call alot of the shots and his GM will be someone who follows Kyle's lead. Of course I have no proof of that but just my feeling. Pridham would fit that bill, and as a current AGM, a promotion to a GM position may well entice him to walk. Dubas also said he wouldn't hire one until after June as alot are under contract until then and he'd need "permissions". I think he'll be shopping in the Leafs yard for sure.
Not hard to find someone who dont have his skillset ... His only skillset is that he has been able to fool peoiple into thiniking he has a clue what he was doing !

Once again the whole loser mentality culture needs to be changed.

Like when Shanahan fired everyone from Nonis down. Maybe another major shakeup in front office will get results. It's not like the Leafs can't afford it.

At least Melnyk had the excuse he didn't have the money to ice a contender.

I assume owning a business isn't easy. As a working class slob my whole life I've never owned a business. But even I can say with confidence that this team isn't run like a business proper.

It's a country club.

Just look at all the inexperienced people they've hired. A good chunk of the front office never had an NHL job before being employed by this team. It's reached a point I have to wonder if ANYONE in the front office is competent at their job.

If Tanenbaum ever wants to win the Stanley Cup he needs to start making the tough choices.

Either sell the team or fire his friends. Because everyone knows this team, as constructed, will never contend for a cup. That doesn't seem to matter to Tanenbaum though.

Not so long as he's making bank.

It's looking more and more like Leafs fans are going to have to wait for Tanenbaum to follow Melnyk to the grave before they see any meaningful changes too.

I'm just excited to give a shit about my leafs again!

I missed it bad.
I’ll cheer for them to win but IMO Dubas was only part of the problem.
Still waiting for a player or two to go. Probably not but will not be disappointed when they do. No matter the return.

What if Shanahan had accepted Dubas' counter offer terms only with protections again Dubas becoming club president? What would we have seen next? Dubas eating a drippy donar wrap while wearing an original Bill Barilko sweater?
