I doubt Pridham would go. It's not a coincidence that Shanny and Treliving have singled him out for mention during press interviews. I believe he was a Shanahan hire too.

The at risk for leaving will be mostly people whose names aren't known by most - the people working in the Leafs analytics and sports science/medicine departments. And maybe the AGMs. But MLSE will be a hard company to out-bid.

Nevermind that it’s an absolute fallacy that all your AGMs need to have played hockey, at any level. It really only matters based on what they’re doing. Let’s say hypothetically, Pridham never played a game of organized hockey in his life, he’s a capologist. He brings a valuable skillset that simply doesn’t require it
Id go even further... people want to pretend you cant understand the game without playing it competitively, but there's plenty of fantastic coaches and managers in sports that haven't played their sport at competitive levels.

Tavares leaving to join Crosby, Malkin, Letang etc as a vet team poised to win one more cup could be a selling point for him to waive his clause . Is it realistic? Probably not, but who knows...we can try wishing it into existence?
Except they aren't poised to win anything. They couldn't even beat the Hawks at home to earn a playoff spot.

Shanny hired Pridham, another perk Dubas walked into and benefited from. He isn’t going anywhere, and fact is he was every bit as important as Dubas.
There's no cap on Pridham's salary, I'd pay him whatever salary Dubas was making and I wouldn't think twice. He's incredibly valuable in managing the cap and finding creative ways of making things work.

If any of the front office staff want to follow that snake to Pittsburgh, I'll volunteer to drive them to the airport myself.

I was fine with him taking the GM role too.

There is a little bit of truth among the Dubas lies. He actually was worried about his family. He was worried about uprooting his family to Pittsburgh if his longshot powerplay to get Shanny removed and a huge raise fell through. So the answer is his family, he's taking them with him. And I really hope he takes Tavares with him too.
So many of you are reading this scenario wrong; heavily influenced by the media. Dubas was comfortable with the original offer and verbally agreed. Pittsburgh then got in his ear before the ink settled and offered a President role. He counter-offered to the Leafs; essentially asking Shanny for his role to stay and got the big fat boot. That's the only order of events that make sense. They then intentionally set the press conference at a time where Toronto media couldn't attend to question the timeline.

Pridham would seem to be a possible target. Seems to be very respected and a so-called cap genius. Dubas said his new GM in pittsburgh could be "someone who is ‘progressive’ and might feature a skillset he doesn’t have.". Not sure if Pridham is that guy, but I think with Dubas's ego, as VP he's going to call alot of the shots and his GM will be someone who follows Kyle's lead. Of course I have no proof of that but just my feeling. Pridham would fit that bill, and as a current AGM, a promotion to a GM position may well entice him to walk. Dubas also said he wouldn't hire one until after June as alot are under contract until then and he'd need "permissions". I think he'll be shopping in the Leafs yard for sure.
The Leafs can always retain anyone they like with money. Fenway Sports is notoriously cheap.

I was fine with him taking the GM role too.

How do you explain "It is Toronto or nothing" and "you won't see me popping up anywhere" at the Monday afternoon presser ??

I hope he does but I doubt it would happen

Wouldn't work, they love Dubas over there....he'd have nobody to argue with.
They love Dubas right now, give him a year or two to turn them into a train wreck

I thought he had a reasonable explanation for that.

He was out of work, his kids are heading to school, and he knew he had to leave Toronto and his kids would be yanked out of school.

They toured Pittsburgh and liked it and since he knew he was going to have to move anyway, why not just take the great offer he had. Which was what he wanted in Toronto anyway.

Money does not cure mental health issues. If it did, many would be alot better for it. The guy is a lying weasel and he further proved it by agreeing to the Pens job on the weekend and waiting to announce it until 30 minutes before the Leafs introduced his replacement. He's got the cash but here's hoping he enjoys a pressure filled season when the Pens continue to shit the bed.

Not that it matters, but you also have to consider the rank and file might just be local people and wouldn't necessarily up root to do a job in Pittsburgh. Not everyone is Jason Spezza with $90 million in career earnings.

if it was up to me i'd definitely force him to take murray, keefe, tavares.

i guess he signs holl and kerfoot as ufas since he didnt want to trade them.

btw the dubas fan club that has been anti leafs since he has been let go can also join him and the pens board.

its disgusting reading posts that on purpose want the leafs to do bad just b/c dubas isnt here; heck i hated every second of dubas; raised alarms about the construction of the team and how badly it was managed but was never actively cheering for bad things to happen to the leafs. i am seriously disgusted by those posts
The mental gymnastics laundry list of excuses that that portion of this “fan base” threw out over the years, but, especially the last 2 was absolutely insane.

Biggewt lost could be Pridham

I guess it's time to question the entire Pridham narrative.

Is he a contract guy? By most accounts, yes. What's so special about what he has done in this area that someone else qualified for that job couldn't also do?
Is he a capologist? Big deal. There are 31 other teams who also don't violate the cap and manage cap space during the season. Good at math and spreadsheets, have the ability to understand the cap regulations? A CPA could do that job, no problem.
Is he a master talent evaluator? I haven't seen that stated ever.
