Big part of the reason I stopped driving down for Timberwolves games was load management. Roll down the highway and overpay for Cavs tickets only to have LeBron not make the trip cuz he needs rest? Nope, sorry, not taking the risk. Fool me once. I'd contend I'd end up at the same point really quick for NHL games. I'd also contend that Winnipeg from November through February is going to be very high on star players "games managed" lists.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the point completely and it's highly logical to approach it that way. I'm just going to sit at home if my $10K a year ain't gonna garner me an opportunity to see Sid/Ovi/Matthews/McDavid because they're being "managed". It becomes eerily reminiscent of pre-season very quickly (and yes, I get they aren't managing it to the same degree).

Good point on paying to see the stars only for them not to play. That would be a piss off.

The purely health/performance solution would be to reduce the intensity of the schedule, no back to backs, and even reduced games in a season since 82 is kind of overkill (not as bad as baseball, thankfully). Of course we know that $$$ reasons means that's a hard sell.

It works fine in football - could you imagine them playing 3 games per week? I guess it's a sport with more injuries, but the principle remains. Higher average recovery time would = higher quality hockey, fewer injuries (and less chance of aggravating chronic injury).

I'd be in favour of a ~75 game season if it meant eliminating all back to backs.

Sign him up - I really like his game.
He brings a little more skill that the others that are fighting for positions (other than perfetti) and we need that in our bottom 6.
I can't see them not giving him a shot at a spot on the third - he'll be playing with a solid, mature center in Lowry and that might be what he needs to settle into the lineup.
He also looks like he is enjoying himself out there - and that's a plus in my books.

I’d love to see him be that Armia type guy who can play some responsible minutes and chip in with some big goals once in a while. We’re still missing that.

I think Armia is the better two-way guy because of his skating. But Svech has the skill to keep a possession game in the ozone.

I always Think of load management as having your stars playing 20 minutes instead of 25 minutes a night and play the fourth line more than 5 minutes a night.

Svech continuing to play very well. He seems pretty much on the same page as Lowry who plays the game at the same pace as him. Quite a few great give and goes for point blank chanced from each of them tonight.

I also love how clam and poised he is with the puck exiting our end. He makes the right play almost all of the time and that helps a lot in our ability to transition.

He also has the size and strength on the boards

Only one can play on the third line with Lowry and Copp and ppl have made it quite clear here the 4th line doesn’t play. But cute gif.

Harkins doesn't play RW at this point so they really aren't competing for the same spot. If Harkins keeps his play up then maybe he knocks Paul out of the LW spot. I personally would like to see that as he adds some much needed speed and forechecking ability to Lowry and Svech. That line was really balanced tonight and reminded me of the old Tanev/Lowry/Copp unit of years ago.

Said it on Wednesday, but he seems a real nice fit for the eventually departing Copp from that third line (Copp may not play third this year anyway) so your points are bang on, minus the clams. :sarcasm:

Oops, Svech thread and continuing to ignore him; like his game, hope we keep him. Hell of a fourth liner that could play up the lineup IMO. Pretty good utility guy to hold onto. Enjoy his game and physicality.

I would put money on Svech not making the club out of TC. He won’t have to clear waivers without an NHL contract and he can be signed up until the signing deadline, which I would also put money on happening. This was a very crafty move by Jets and gives us an extra player when the time is right. Or did I miss something?

He’s been better than Ves. There is too much managing in that case and not enough putting the best team on the ice.

I’ll take the guy with speed and skill as well as size.

I don't really have an issue either way -
But I do prefer the size with skill on the 3rd - playing with Lowry.
Harkins would be a nice add to the 4th with his speed and skill - energy is likely what Mo wants there and I agree as long as there is some scoring potential which Harkins would bring.

I wouldn't lose any sleep with either option.

I am with you. He has been good but I would bet he starts on the Moose beside Perfetti. These games have given Maurice & company a good look at what he is capable (and not capable) of in the event of a call up
