yea there was a postercalling him dumb and a low IQ player. Funny he has not been here much this year.

Theres been a lot of that. Not that his numbers were terrible, but he just turned 22. Guys like Bautista and Encarnacion only found their stride when they were what, 27?

Vladdy's swing on his third homer looked like his dad's

Love that all three homers were to different parts of the outfield, and all of them were just crushed, no doubters.

He's looking like prime Miggy Cabrera right now. If that's what we're getting for 162, wow look out American league. Cabrera had a .947 OPS as a 22 yo

Yeah, I'm wrong about all kinds of stuff all the time, so I'm not gonna go digging up old posts or anything, but people drawing conclusions about a player's future because he wasn't a star yet at 21 was always dumb.

If only Gurriel could heat up a little.

Imagine having all of these on form:

Springer
Vladdy
Biggio
Bo
Grichuk
Semien
Teoscar
Tellez
Gurriel
Kirk

Those are some useful bats ey?

Should teams be compensated for players missing games? 25 million a year to have a guy nurse his little oblique and quad injuries. Wasn’t Springer 50/50 to play opening day before the team decided to give him a couple of days? He’s already missed something like 15% of the season and will likely need a couple more weeks to adjust once he eventually returns to play. Really frustrating.
You know, I won't lose too much sleep at night if multi-billion dollar media giant Rogers Communications has to pay a few cheques to a guy on the IL.

"We're going to pay you a whole bunch of money to do this job that includes a high risk of injuring you to the point where you can't do the job anymore, but if you do happen to get hurt on the job - which, again, is extremely likely - that's you're problem and we're not going to pay you."

Hello all!! I haven’t been posting much but I still come on here to read. And see I need to comment on my very wrong thinking last year. I did comment on how I thought Vladdy was too dumb and thought he could bust. Boy was I wrong and I’m very happy I’m wrong. He’s looked amazing so far and it’s great to see. I’m a Jays fan through and through so I’m happy to be wrong about that. I have no problem admitting when I’m wrong. It’s nice to see the hard work he’s put in pay off.

Former Blue Jays legend Phil Bickford was DFA’d by Milwaukee. I’d like to take this moment to thank Phil, who after going unsigned helped Toronto land another legend in Max Pentecost.

Thanks. I don’t know how to import stuff.

You just post the URL and HF converts it to an embedded tweet. Looks like you're using the app on your phone. I don't you think can grab the link directly that way. If you were looking at twitter on your browser, or a computer you just copy and paste the link

Ok thanks. Much appreciated.

Groshans to AA. Wonder what this means for Austin Martin. AAA seems a bit much at this point, so is he going to A+ with the roaming Nomads from Vancouver? Or are they both going to AA?

Nice... this is kind of our first bit of insight into how promotions are going to work for the top prospects. Groshans played just 23 games at A-ball in 2019, now he's skipping A+. For this move, at least, it seems like they're moving him based on where he would belong had there been a 2020 season.

As for Martin, I expected him to start at AA, so I guess a lot of it depends on whether they want them both to continue getting regular reps at SS.

I have no idea what state the Cubs are in right now, but they have a lot of pieces i like.

Big fan of Willson Contreras, but not sure how we feel about our current catcher options going forward. Kirk does have a lot of potential i'll admit but Contreras would be a big upgrade behind the plate.

Kyle Hendricks is an obvious one. I think the price would be super high, but justifiably so. He is at worst a borderline ace, but could be a very good number 2 behind Ryu. Signed for 3 years after this season, at a very affordable $14 million a year. We could pay a big price for him to be a staple at the top of the rotation for the rest of our 1st window.

I have to say it... Kris Bryant. He is my ideal target if we decide to search for a 3B. He is a UFA this offseason, so i dont know if we target him as a rental for this season, long-term in the offseason, or both. It would be risky as he will be 30 years old looking for a large contract, coming off a down year. But i believe he could fill in our infield perfectly.

I dont think Semien is here past this season, so Vlad stays at 1B, Biggio takes back over 2B, and Bichette has SS, with Bryant filling in our weirdly situated 3B. Could make for a weird situation going forward with Martin coming up. But i think we could figure out positioning when the time comes especially with the versatility in guys like Biggio or Martin himself.

Again, no idea how we plan to handle the infield going forward, but another upcoming Javier Baez could be a versatile option there. (Going off of baseball-reference) He can play all of SS, 2B, and 3B.

I dont know the Cubs' plans with any of these guys, or how they will handle their upcoming UFA's, just a few targets i wanted to throw out there.

Also, i obviously dont mean we should get all these guys. It would likely be 2 at most. Just a couple guys i wouldnt mind getting my hands on, and pieces i think could fit here now and long term.
