Yes but let's see if that pick is still Bruins property come draft day. Until the deadline ends Friday it won't be certain whether Sweeney has shifted to the future and drafting or... will the newly available cap space and other assets be used for a "hockey trade" this week. I won't place a bet on this until we see what the next move looks like.
I might have had concern before but once Marchand went down, I truly believe Sweeney and Cam finally admitted what we all see, clean out the UFA`s, keep the picks and move on

It doesn’t. Sometimes you need to do the right thing by a guy who gave you his all. Now if marchy wants out then he deserves that as well.

Ok shep. Semantics

He's going to be a free agent. So if they don't want him back are we still doing right by him are do we have to pay him what he wants?

I understand its hard but this team is in a bad way right now so if Fredrick is worth a 2 then Marchand is probably worth a 1 to a team that needs scoring down the stretch.

You can re sign him in the off-season.

Same narrative - you can criticize the guy all you want (and obviously you do) for the decisions he makes but this idea that he's lazy or doesn't care about the Bruins enough to work hard is lame.
What did he do this year for the team to make them better? Wasn't this the year after the reset spending big money and getting the team back to legit cup contender? Why did he let them flounder? Why so patient?

With you there friend, might be a bit of a bumpy retool but like today`s move and as you alluded to , Poitras and Lohrei are going to be big parts of this future.

Since it has been made clear to play Lohrei 58 minutes a night, loving his game, a true risk/reward dude, some of the things he does with the puck you just can`t teach, both the good and bad :)
They are sooooo shallow if I was GM I only trade guys with term for players who can step in no later than next season

Did Chara retire a Bruin? Thomas?
If Marchand stays I’m absolutely happy to have him.

If he decides to go I will root for him to win another cup wherever it is he goes. You will get a great return in the process

Brad has earned it either way.

There’s only one Bruins that would’ve devastated me if he went and played elsewhere of this previous “era” and that is Bergeron.

You can't deal Carlo for picks and you have to have a plan to get a RHD.... Unless you deal him for picks and wrest Dobson say from the Isles.
If Carlo moves it will be at the draft. We are already down 2 D so I don't see DS moving him now.

.....Ali.
Hence why I said technically. He played his last game for the Islanders and was a UFA. He announced his retirement and then signed the one day contract with the Bruins. Technically he retired a Bruin.

Did Chara retire a Bruin? Thomas?
Thomas took a year off at 38 years old. Chara was 43 and didn't want to take a lesser role.

Surely Marchand's situation, who is still pretty easily our 2nd best forward, isn't really comparable to those two.
