We have a few stopgap options while he develops into that in Matheson on the right doing fine, and Guhle who proved he can also do that.
the difference is i would move fewer assets to get someone i know could fill that hole, like Roy+ for Rasmus Andersson (he's not the exact type of player we need on #1 RD but you're not gonna find that type of player easily, the guy we need is basically another Weber which doesn't exist)
I wouldn't move either of our 1sts tho

the rebuild is over, it's time to bring young vets in (26-28) to help the team grow/compete now, we already have enough prospects/futures in the pipeline
i keep our 1sts so we can package them at the draft to move up if someone interesting is available (Frondell mainly), also I'm keeping Evans
Roy + Mailloux is fair value for Rasmus

I’m not even going to defend Haula I’m definitely in favor of trading him or at least getting someone to replace him on the 3rd line and drop him to the 4th.
Ideally I’d prefer to trade Nemec for someone to play with Jack and Bratt and knock Palat down to 3c. If that means Haula has to go so be it. He can take Tatar with him.
regardless what you or i think is fair value we have the pieces to make it happen, that other stuff is subjective

If the Devils were to move Nemec, it should only be for a Timo Meier-level talent at minimum. The Devils just don’t have the cap space to afford to pay another forward 8+ million and the bigger need right now is to improve the middle-six depth.
The Devils should be targeting second line quality players like Palmieri, Bjorkstrand, Nelson, O’Rielly, Granlund, etc. for an improvement, none of which they should be moving Nemec for.

There no real story there yet.
The interviewer asked him about Jiricek getting a trade to Minnesota and Nemec literally says that it's too soon to ask for a trade lol
This becomes something worth considering if we get into next year and Nemec isn't in the NHL lineup, which I don't think is going to happen but could, in fairness.
More concerning about than the non trade request is probably the fact that Fitz has criticized him and it seems like Nemec has bristled a little bit at that.
Unless Nemec can't wait until next year for some reason, which would be weird given that we already into January.

1- Neither Beck or Roy have proved themselves, and we might make it to the playoffs this year. Who is going to run the 3rd line, if it happens?
2- Nemec didn't impressed me, and like you said, we have Reinbacher and Mailloux coming up. Hughes passed on freakin' Mitchkov to get him, so we can only assume that he's going to play. On the defensive side, Mailloux is indeed suspect, but it's nothing experience can't solve
This deal has the smell of the "Lekhonen Trade" all over it
