I could see a desperate team taking him on for like a million. Calgary could use some offense and he's close to home.

The arbitrator has the power to reinstate a contract. Really depends on what remedy the PA would want to pursue if they win the grievance. Reinstate, or receive some form of compensation and leave the contract terminated.

You would have to think that a settlement and opportunity to sign another contract would be what Kane would want, no?

Did they say what he did this time ? If he was partying with other team members with out wearing a mask or something similar and those team mates aren't facing the same punishment the Sharks may have a problem .

What rock have you been under? LoL

Got covid Dec 21st. Was supposed to quarantine until 12/31 when he was supposed to report to the team. Flew to Vancouver on Dec 29th while he was still subject to the AHL 10 day quarantine rule. Reported to the team 1/6 a week after he was supposed to.

IS it likely in your opinion that the Sharks would incur a cap hit if they were to compensate Kane?

This guy just keeps sinking deeper and deeper.

I honestly don’t see him live past 40 if he doesn’t start to mature.

Kings made out on that settlement with Richards. They got out of a bad contract that wasn't going to age well at all. Instead, they have a cap hit of under $1m/yr. And only pay him about half of the remaining contract value.

Richards played one more with the Caps, and did not make an impact.

I'm sure the Sharks organization wouldn't mind something similar. If they can get Vlasic to retire on LTIR, that's icing on the cake.

So his contract is terminated, but would a successful NHLPA grievance result in the reinstatement of his contract?

The arbitrator has the power to reinstate a contract. Really depends on what remedy the PA would want to pursue if they win the grievance. Reinstate, or receive some form of compensation and leave the contract terminated.

They have the power to reinstate but there is 0% chance that would happen. Either he's SOL or he'll be reimbursed to the level they see fit.
