One good offensive game and we put him on the iron throne as well..
It's just some fans and knee jerks.

Most here have been even keel .. Bouchard has his warts but is also very promising.

He isn't Desharnais bad but he is no Pronger either.

He will be bridged for under 5Mil
Why would he take less than Nurse?

Your posts are the only thing bad. He's been very good all over the ice since Ekholm, and in these playoffs. Yesterday was a bad game tho

Acting like he hasn't been engaged regularly and several times these playoffs is just flat out lying and i guarantee you can't find proof otherwise
You gotta read closer man before flipping out.
I said he was horrific yesterday. Which he was. I made no comments about his recent play other than the game yesterday. In fact, if you read closely (which is always a good idea), I also said with him, one needs to take the good with the bad (his shortcomings are rather pronounced).

Oh I'm calm, and can read just fine.
This is 100% not a statement directed at 1 game

"Cause he looked even less engaged defensively than normal."

Perhaps writing more carefully is in order if you want people to understand what you mean

What did Nurse take on his bridge deal?
Once Bouchard can carry his own pairing and log 25+min regularly he can compare himself to Nurse.
Either Ceci is historically bad or Nurse isn’t carrying his pairing. Bouchard/Ekholm is light years better at both ends of the ice.

His biggest shortcoming BY FAR, is how engaged/desperate/intensity, call it what you will, he can be (predominantly defensively). And hes not close to average in that regard. If you cant see that, its pointless having a discussion with you.

It's like Nurse is trying to do to much and cover all the ice. They need to find the proper partner for Nurse this offseason.
I have asked this question before...why is it that Nurse needs a proper partner but yet a player like Ekholm makes his partner better?

If Nurse was really worth +$9M then he would be making his partner better. Not the other way around.

When I read about paying Bouchard 7-8 million my automatic counter is "Barrie as a comparable player," which he absolutely is.

The Barrie deal, signed when he was a UFA and just led the league in scoring by a defenceman. 4.5M @ 3 years.

That's the three year deal I'd offer Bouchard and that number goes up every year you tag on and the amount esculates for every UFA year bought.

7-8 million? lol Maybe we could trade Bouchard for Noah Dobson who has back-to-back 50 point seasons while not playing with Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl, Bouchard was on the same ice even if you don't take into account, the best pp in NHL history, which surely will come up.

Dobson signed a 4M deal for 3 years, that deal was signed after his first 50 point season.

I'm very open to the idea of trading Evan Bouchard.

Barrie was the worst Oilers dman at even strength both offensively and defensively, all while needing to be sheltered at 30 years old. And as we've seen now isn't even better than Bouchard on the power play. Getting rid of him was a global buff addition by subtraction that saw us post an over 80% winrate.

Nurse isn’t worth 9 million and I doubt he ever will be. We need a RD Ekholm to make Nurse better.

So what would you want to come the Oiler's way in a trade involving Bouchard?

Before the deadline I would have moved him for three assets that could have helped us immediately in these playoffs. I was taking for granted the clubs involved would be taking on salary in one way or another because of the value Bouchard had.

Given Bouchard's placement in scoring these playoffs I'd speculate he's upped his value considerably. And I would still consider trading him.

Paying Bouchard 7-8 million... lmao indeed. At that number it would be better for the club to not qualify the player.

Then consider the team could be improved by trading Bouchard.
To who and for what?

also we probably wouldn't have to pay Bouchard that much if a certain someone else wasn't making north of 9 to do f*** all.

There are many good players in the NHL not named Bouchard, or Nurse for that matter. Some good players yet to reach the NHL. If we don't win the Cup we need to get some of those good players so we can.

A pp specialist isn't the be-all and end-all.

I wouldn't trade him lmfao. We've literally been waiting 2 decades for a player with this skillset.

Calling him a PP specialist is beyond ridiculous. Barrie was a PP specialist. Bouchard is one of the most productive defensemen in the NHL the past 2 seasons at even strength, jumps even further up the list for even strength points per minute, and grades even better analytically.

It's not about Nurse needing a partner but more about Oilers needing a top 4 RD.

Oilers have none at the moment. Ekholm-Nurse would be a legit top pairing but then we would have nothing left elsewhere.

Either Ceci is historically bad or Nurse isn’t carrying his pairing. Bouchard/Ekholm is light years better at both ends of the ice.
You are obviously here to crap on Nurse and nothing else.. Ceci could be historically bad but defensively he is much better than Bouchard

Nurse-Bouchard pairing would be worse than Nurse-Ceci easily.

So productive at ES yet still a minus player on a powerhouse team. The guy is a minus player in playoffs too despite lighting it up offensivly.

He is more than a PP specialist for sure but far from a 7M per player.. there is a lot of growing up to do for him defensively and he has plenty of time to get there.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the way to do it.

Nurse has not earned the benefit of the doubt this year. Nurse/Ceci consistently is on the wrong side of the puck. He's getting paid to elevate his partner and he's clearly not doing that.

Again, Bouchard has one bad game after having a really strong playoffs and people want to ship him out.

+10 last season, +6 this season despite the 92380238928 ton dead weights that were Tyson Barrie and Jack Campbell holding him back/griefing him. He's minus in playoffs right now but has the same +/- as McDavid/Kane so it's not like he's been alone in terms of defensive gaffes (RNH in particular running away with the green jacket at -5).

You've been two decades in waiting for Evan Bouchard?

There are other defenceman in this league that can break out the puck, shoot and pass just as efficiently or better than Bouchard and play defence on top of that.

Imagine another defenceman playing on the number one power play in the league while playing with determination and tenacity in other crucial areas of the game if you can.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the way to do it.

There are many players that could be helping this club to a greater extent than Bouchard.

And for your constant barrage of criticism on Nurse just imagine Bouchard trying to hold down his responsibilities. Yikes.

Bouchard has lots of flaws so don't say +/- is misleading or a useless statistic then use it as a positive for Bouchard. And who on Bouchard's pairing is more accountable for that rating? Maybe Keith, Ekholm and Nurse.

And give it a rest with your Robidas Island scenario for Jack Campbell because it's never going to happen.

If Nurse could produce offensively I'd certainly be open to trading Bouchard but he's not. Bouchard/Ekholm is easily our best pairing and I don't think it's really close. We've longed for a bomb on the point and nobody else can hit the net.

All we are saying is DON'T OVERPAY THE PLAYER BY A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT.

I'm talking about Bouchard, not Nurse. If Nurse is overpaid we should also overpay Bouchard, even more.... to spite Nurse.

I don't dislike the player. I don't see anyone that says they do.

I do see you repeating statements of your animosity towards Nurse ad nauseum.
