Martinez made a really controversial callup list, the entire media in Portugal absolute tore into him.

"I called up Cancelo/Felix because we need to support them at this time" Then there's calling up Otavio/Neves while they're in Saudi Arabia (Ronaldo will always be called based on his legendary status etc), Pedro Neto/Toti Gomes/Nelson Semedo.....no leftbacks and doesnt callup up Nuno Santos or Mario Rui!

Guarda-redes - Diogo Costa (FC Porto), José Sá (Wolverhampton Wanderers FC) e Rui Patrício (AS Roma);

Defesas - Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), Nélson Semedo (Wolverhampton Wonderers), João Cancelo (FC Barcelona), Danilo Pereira (PSG), Rúben Dias (Manchester City), António Silva (SL Benfica), Gonçalo Inácio (Sporting CP), Toti Gomes (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Médios - João Palhinha (Fulham FC), Rúben Neves (Al-Hilal), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Otávio Monteiro (Al Nassr), Vitinha (PSG) e Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

Avançados - Ricardo Horta (SC Braga), Rafael Leão (AC Milan), João Félix (FC Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr), Pedro Neto (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Gonçalo Ramos (PSG) e Diogo Jota (Liverpool FC).

Both North and South Ireland sinking back to the level of obscurity they warrant, along with Wales. Delicious.

Albania could cause one of Poland/Czech problems especially considering they both still have to go to Tirana. Albania-Poland in a few days is a huge match. Poland don’t look convincing under Santos but they never did in recent years tbh

Hungary won in Serbia, they should qualify with ease now and they will probably be a Pot 1 team in the main draw  I know it’s a multicultural world and naturalization happens but saw a guy named Callum Styles playing for Hungary

Not much they could do with Sesko on the other side. He's not as freaky as Haaland, but he's a monster too. The nose for goal & finishing match the size, speed, and athleticism.

Serbia continues to be less interesting on the pitch than they are on paper. I like Ilic, Samardzic, Pavlovic, and their vets like Tadic & Kostic. But I just knew they'd lose to Hungary.

I must confess my dissatisfaction with Kasper Hjulmand's management. It appears he may not be ideally suited for the role, exhibiting a delay in responsiveness and an inconsistency between his words and actions, particularly in relation to player selections. Furthermore, his close-knit circle seems to be a matter of concern.

The presence of Kjaer, Schmeichel, Delaney, Stryger, and Eriksen on the team raises questions about his decision-making; it's almost as if he prioritizes personal relationships over performance.

If I were in the shoes of players like Rønnow and Billing, I would understandably feel disheartened. Leading a national team with such strong personalities requires a coach with a firmer hand.

On paper, Denmark boasts the most impressive squad in this group by a significant margin. However, this superiority has yet to translate into performance. Finland, on the other hand, appears to benefit from more effective coaching, and I anticipate, their victory in Helsinki on Sunday. My desire for Finland's triumph stems from the hope of seeing Hjulmand replaced with a coach who can genuinely deliver on the promise of a generational shift, without wavering in resolve.

Did I mention how much I abhor Simon Kjaer? The audacity this arrogant man displays is truly astonishing...

What in the world is San Marino doing in the EQ... dear me what a schlacking unlike I've not seen this year yet. Denmark didn't even need a goalie and they had only a few seconds of possession the entire match.... come on man...

Nico Williams is a really good player. Not sure what the "story" is with him, but I imagine he'll be a sought after player next summer.

I think you're exaggerating quite a bit.

I didn't see their defeat in Kazakhstan, but Denmark has pretty much better players than Finland in every position, mayby Schmeichel/Hradecky is a wash. The only player from Finns who might start for Denmark is Antman who scored in their last match.

Take Eriksen for example, Finland doesn't have anyone capable of making the kind of passes he does, didn't he have like three assist in the last match.

Even if Finland plays at home, might have a better manager and more organized team, that only takes them so far. I think Denmark will win.

Never heard of this Yamal. Where did he come from? Might be hyped after this one.

Nah, took forever him to score and haven't even scored for Barca yet :sarcasm:

Scoring on his NT debut while just turning 16 is pretty cool though. He’s yet to play for U21. Spectacular.

Perhaps so, but I am not alone in this sentiment. It is currently a prevailing theme in Denmark, and unless you are Danish, there may be some aspects you are not fully aware of - Like the many broken promises from KH (Generational shift, and not using players who are not playing in their clubs), and Kjaers dumbass comments about the 2018 strike and substitute NT, which has surfaced again recently.

Denmark is currently facing significant challenges and has been in a state of disarray since their defeat in Scotland.

Despite initially leading 2-0 against Kazakhstan, Denmark ultimately lost the match with lackluster defence, which is supposed to be our strongpoint. Their performance against Northern Ireland was sub par, struggling even to create scoring opportunities. Slovenia defeated them 4-2, and although Slovenias defense was porous, the overall performance was a surefire 4-2 win. Denmark also had a stroke of luck with a VAR decision in their favor against Northern Ireland, which, while fair, was fortunate for them. When playing against Finland at home, our performance was subpar, and our victory was largely attributed to Hoejlund's contribution - The game against San Marino was the nail for me, they had 87% possession, yet only 6 sog, and 4 goals against, litterally the worst team on earth.

Eriksen had a lucky goal, and 2 assists against San Marino, nothing to celebrate imo.
Antman, would make the Danish bench perhaps, but not a starter in any way imo.
Hradecky is better than KS imo, and so is Rønnow imo.

Many Danish citizens have become disillusioned with Coach Hjulmand and several key players such as Delaney, Kjaer, Eriksen, Schmeichel, Poulsen, and Stryger Larsen. This dissatisfaction extends beyond on-field performance and encompasses off-field controversies dating back to 2018, with recent incidents exacerbating the situation.

I acknowledge my personal bias, given my strong emotional connection to the Danish national team. However, it is undeniable that there is some validity to these concerns, and they are shared by a significant portion of the Danish population, though certainly not by everyone.

I both hope and believe that Finland will emerge victorious on Sunday.

Can't even hear the Armenian anthem through the boos. Surprised Armenia/Turkey is even an allowed fixture.

No idea what happened but FS2 just randomly switched over to Serbia/Hungary. Weird.

John McGinn's arse is going to be his country's leading goalscorer. What a time.

C.Ronaldo kicks with studs up Slovakia keeper Dubrovka in the face. Only yellow, even if his kick might have deflected form the keeper's chest into his face, it was still quite a dangerous play.

Luxembourg the new Iceland? :sarcasm:

Good to see Croatia win a game against a minnow in the first 20 mins for a change, usually they struggle to break these teams down. Armenia if they hold on will throw a wrench into that group and put immense pressure on Turkey who only will have three games left

Scotland basically one point away from qualifying and we’re just at the halfway point
