Soooo... with the investigation into and subsequent resignation of Bob Murray over professional misconduct (drunken bullying), and the NHLs new hardline stance on workplace etiquette, what's next for EM?

There have been rumours for years about his in-office antics, and I have first hand accounts from a former employee to make me believe that it's more than just gossip. It's one thing to remove a GM, quite another to remove an owner. But still... it seems like the floodgates are open!

you have to think the way they handled the Randy Rick Lee crime that the culture is terrible. Maybe Lee was doing this for the first time. Culture in business is dictated by the worst behaviour accepted - not that Ottawa accepted Randy Lee’s crime, but bryce certainly weren’t Alfred by it or took it seriously and dealt it with respectfully

Dorion in his interview with Dean Brown spoke about the importance of loyalty - and that’s a huge red flag. Loyalty is the opposite of what you want in business like this, it’s what keeps people who are bad in control and able to dictate corporate culture when it’s broken. Loyalty is what ensures bad behaviour can continue, it’s why we tech our kids that they have no secrets from their parents

not saying the Sens are doing what Chicago was doing or even Anaheim - but I wouldn’t be surprised to find the culture at the very minimum is bad and at the worst is toxic.

just what Lehner and Niilson said in the span of 2 weeks, and the loyalty Dean Brown and Gord Wilson showed toward the doctors - that’s loyalty that’s toxic. It tries to shut down questions and vouches for things they know nothing about - and they are major media figures and add to the feelings of helplessness if something bad happened simply by standing with these guys who’ve been accused of basically Malpractice. Tsn1200 did the exact same thing and defended Randy Lee - so the culture is bad already for victims and probably not great all around as they haven’t changed anyone in management and the owner is still the owner and his summer seemed like he didn’t make any friends

Completely agree, people can pretend this organization didn't try to sweep a known instance of sexual assault under the rug and did everything they could to defend the guy immediately, all they want. Considering the known toxic culture of the work atmosphere for at least a deacde backed up by a literal mountain of first hand accounts of it occurring, there shouldn't be any soapboxing from this fanbase/team. As you have pointed out the media has been completely complicit in this as well and only once they saw the winds changing did they pretend to care, snakes the lot of them are!

Nothing new here for a long time … this thread should be locked until there is something relevant to discuss.

Nothing new? That’s true, I haven’t noticed a reset on the ‘Days since a Melnyk Incident’ counter in a while. That is new. Did someone hire a pooper scooper to follow him around and quickly clean up his messes?

Toxic culture in Ottawa isn’t clear to me yet though. Though would I even hear of it without real investigative journalists like Westhead with his recent exposé. That has certainly become hockey’s me too moment that will cause a shift in thinking.

It was considered acceptable, even rewarded, to see the hawks actions of casting aside all unpleasant distractions that no one is really prepared to deal with anyway and focus on the Cup. I don’t recall many examples for Ottawa to have used when confronted with their allegations either. Hopefully now Ottawa know better about quick containment and not being afraid to deal with it. But Ottawa’s culture seemed normal nhl hockey culture to me, not really uniquely toxic. And hopefully, much as I have to choke a little to say it, they and the league have wokened some.

Wasn't aware you had mod powers

I don’t see the point of recycling the same 2-5 year old stale Melynk complaints - that doesn’t move anything forward.

But hey - if people need to rant about casinos and boats have at it.

Would you go and see a bad movie? That's why people do not want to see a bad team. Melnyk is constantly delivering a bad product . There are zero expectations about this team in the last 4 years. And the worse, people have no hope, that this team will improve through the draft or free agency. I don't. Melnyk's decision sitting on his arse in Barbados to blow up this team was a pure idiocy.
Owners who want to make money do not do stuff like. Why would destroy your own business by selling to people a bad product? Then he had an idea to build a team in a form and a shape, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth in 1967. How is this working out? When in the last 20 years only skilled to the teeth teams won the cup.

yes I watch some bad movies…

as a side note don’t most of us “watch” these bad games and even more interestingly discuss and debate these bad games on this website ?

No, I'm well aware you don't care about anyone's opinion but your own. I'm just saying you're not doing a good job of giving people a reason to put any stock whatsoever in your opinion.

lots of wrong…. You make mistakes when you assume - this forum has several great posters who I respect and value their contributions. If it didn’t I wouldn’t be here.

anything specific ? What was funny about them?

remember when Melnyck said he wasn’t sure how tall he was, how much he weighed or the colour of his eyes in response to the casino lawsuit - he’s a billionaire fighting having to pay a gnashing debt and these are his antics. No wonder he was proud of “going after” an 11 year who was talking bad about the Senators online.

hard not to laugh at and be a bit ashamed of Melnyck when he responds to a lawsuit like that.

Well …. I I don’t remember and I don’t find it funny - he’s also not fighting a law suit when he’s talking to the media -

The few rich people I know seem to have some legal issue around them. I googled 4 sport owners off the top of my head (Kraft, Thomson, Rogers, and Gillette) and they all have pages of legal issues …

Boats and Casinos feels peddy compared to some of the stuff I scanned quickly … I think we spend way to much time worrying about him… and not enough supporting the team.
