LOL. Now do Brady Tkachuk who gets in way more collisions. Not sure you've ever played hockey or other contact sports but there are MANY times where making a hit hurts more than taking one.

You'll go to no lengths to disparage a player because they're under 6 feet tall. In the case of player injury it's kind of disgusting actually. People get hurt playing hockey. That applies to guys who are 6'4 (Lindros x2) to small guys (Pavel Bure).

I've played plenty of sports & have plenty of scars to prove it & life lasting injuries. While big people get hurt as well it's definately a disadvantage to play against much bigger men who hit to hurt or put you out of a game. And going all the way back to the school yard bigger guys always pick on smaller guys, it's easier for them until they find that one kid who won't back down. Brannstrom is no Pavel Bure & remember what Lindros did to Dackel? OUCH.

I'm convinced he meant Zub... didn't Zub go off holding his hand?

Bruce confirmed it’s Brann, said he will be out two months at least. Zub probably will be too with our luck.

Feel awful for him, this was a big opportunity for him to stick. Hopefully he gets back in when he’s healed.

This is something worth discussing if a player plays in such a way that they could be placing themselves in positions to constantly get hurt. I could cost the org a ton of money in rehab costs, not to mention constantly losing that player for periods of time where they can't use him in their lineups. There are consequences to injuries for both player & team.
You mean Matt Murray ?

Why did he have to get injured when he was going to play a much bigger role with all the defenceman that are out…man really unfortunate

And remember what Darius Kaspairaitus did to Lindros? ANd remember what every stiff breeze did to Logan Brown?

These are some of the best athletes in the world. A 5'10 guy gets injured just like a 6'2 guy. Everywhere except in your weird mind.

Also, way to go citing the Lindros on Dackell hit. Well done. A cheap, late albow to the head is great. For the record I'm 45 and not in the best shape of my life. I could injure ANY NHL player if I decided to be a dirty f*** like Lindros was.

But your love for big, strapping dudes has no bounds so here we are.

Too bad our big guys on defense take more contact than actually giving it

He's too small, takes WAY too much contact. This is going to happen, not even surprising honestly.

Really sucks for the kid. This would've been an amazing opportunity for him to become a full time NHLer. Ont he bright side, he gets his NHL salary for the next two months, and *hopefully* gets to train with the NHL team and sit in on team meetings and such...absorb the atmosphere and hopefully get a change to learn a few things while watching from the pressbox.

Ya the takes on brann are super weird

the whole getting hit a lot I mean . Dudes a warrior

It’s not just the getting hit, it’s that he gives up the puck. It’s a fine move to take a hit to make a play, unless the play is to cough the puck up to the opponent.

It’s not even that it’s his fault. It’s that he’s a target and his corner is the play, so he has to be better and more agile than other players to back off the other team and change the game plan.

That right there is a challenge.

But he's not alone.

People have pointed out that other teams are screaming to put the puck into J. Brown's corner. Not because they hit him hard (I guess that they can if they want) but because he'll give up the puck.

But here's the thing; if teams can pick and choose which corner they are dumping it into at will, that's not on Brannstrom. Or even J. Brown, although he does next to nothing in the neutral zone. The problem in that case is that teams are having their way with us in the neutral zone.

That is a coaching problem. Good NHL coaches protect young D like Brannstrom, or even bad D like J. Bro, by making the neutral zone tough on other teams. Even with marginal talent a good coach can make the neutral zone a tough slog for the other team. We see none of that from our team.

Teams have identified our weak links, wether that is size or play. You need to isolate these players with good players to help off-set it. This done any ways by defense pairings, structure or systems.

Right now we are lacking all of that and keep trying to do the same thing without the proper adjustments. This lays on the coaching , they know what they have to deal with but are not making strong enough adjustments.

I don't blame DJ for injuries or covid but his defense pairings are on him. No one forced him to use these guys and not ask for call-ups or trades.

The person solely responsible for this is actually the general manager and the owner that they felt that this team was ready to compete this NHL season. It is quite obvious that there is a lack of depth and our defense and several other key positions that should have been dealt with in the off-season.

The lack of movement by Management in the offseason put us in a situation of weakness. Injuries are going to happen and in the day and age of covid was a huge oversight.

We had the cap space and we also had plenty of a open AHL roster spots that could have been filled by players in case we needed them.

At this point the team is just doing the best It can with what it has and so is the coach. There is not much more we can really ask. There will be plenty of time to point fingers and do the blame game at the end of the season at the rate we are going.

Why? This team is exactly where many of us thought it would be! This team as still at least 3 years away from competing for a playoffs spot! and it could take longer then that! We still have a long way to go here folks! I dont see Dorion or Smith losing their job anytime soon!
