My favorite sen of all time. I have a shrine here in the entrance to my home. Biggest mistake they ever made was letting him go.
The organization will suffer eternally. But at least we can remember and discuss his contributions and what could have been every day here on hfboards. :)

I'm pretty sure they'll add someone. I think the Brannstrom decision was made regardless though.

They definitely know that banking on Kleven- JBD/Hamonic will not be enough for a team trying to finally make the playoffs. Kleven may play well or he may not. Hamonic should be 7th or 8th D. JBD is fine.

I have a hard time seeing them start the season like this.
The third pairing and fourth line isn’t going to be the make or break in terms of making the playoffs.

Tinkering to find the best value players for the bottom pair and line is what pushes teams deeper into the playoffs.

I’m not disagreeing that it would be super nice to add a bruising veteran 6D into the mix, it’s just not vital to our team’s preliminary success.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they roll through camp with those spots open and that cash available so that there are a couple spots up for grabs for prospects and PTOs to fight over, and that also could be filled by the mass waiver wire movement afterwards.

On the fourth line especially, it seems like they want to have a good long look at guys like Halliday and Ostapchuk, along with a couple of the new guys in Gaudette and the other dude we traded for.

On D they obviously will let Kleven fight for a spot, but there isn’t much on the right side unless they make a trade, or Hammer comes to came ready to fight for his life with JBD. Anyone we bring in would mean that JBD would need to go down through waivers, or we roll with two extra D, which is possible.

In the end though, it will be on the strength of the top 9, top 4, top goaltending, and coaching, that will get us into the playoffs, not the bottom pairing and bottom line guys.

Probably would have been kept around if Dorion wasn't an idiot and signed him to double what he has shown himself to be worth. At a million bucks he looks fine on the bottom pair.

I still think the kid can have a decent career as a PP specialist, but he needs to prove it. Maybe he will get the opportunity in Colorado.

He’s one of the worst PP players in the league, statistically. He’s never going to get that opportunity in Denver with the best PP QB in the league on their team.

He’s not a point producer and likely won’t be used on the power play because he can’t produce any points there either. He can move the line well enough but can’t seem to make plays that lead to goals.

To be a power play specialist you have to have some demonstrative power play skills that produce enough points to make up for your other deficiencies in order to hold down a roster spot. If he holds down a spot it will be his transition game, not his power play presence in my opinion.
