While not new news: Both The Sharks want him to play and Musty wants a crack at the Memorial Cup

Make it happen Dave Brown …

Sell off and recoup next year or see where we stand then ..
I also heard that they want to be in a more defensive, structured system - which screams SB to me…. If he’s trying to work on his 2 way game, the fit in Erie makes sense, can’t speak so much about other teams

To me it comes down to how many teams are involved in the negotiations, but if they can make it work - I would agree they should pull the trigger. I don’t think they are set up to win next year. While they can certainly be competitive next season, their window to make a real run is better suited for right now. And if not this year and you aren’t as positioned for next year, then idk when the next window will be. I also think they would be wise to trade off assets next year regardless of this season so if that’s the case even more of a reason to go all in especially for a player like this. I think they can pretty easily recoup picks next year and turn their focus towards better draft capital stability

Exactly. I could even see them trading away Challenger in something that was like the Allan McShane situation in 16-17. Trade every pick you have (I’m 90% sure we can trade like 2 years further than what is currently loaded in the database so there’s that) to load up. They should really go for it this year. Trade for a couple solid d men, Musty, and a true backup and you have a serious contender right there.

I don’t believe in London as much as other people. I believe that they have a goaltending problem. The guy that was in when we played was solid, but I don’t know if he’s a true backup, and I don’t believe that Willmore is a starting goalie AT ALL. He’s last in GAA, and 35th in Save Percentage. I’ve been saying we’ll win the Midwest and be in the 1 seed for a while now, and now I truly believe that. Just load up, win the ship as long as you can knock of Brampton, and possibly the Memorial Cup, then deal with the rebuild next year. As was noted earlier in this thread, it’ll help that unlike in 17-18, we actually have real guys to trade to recoup picks. Spence, Schaefer to name a couple. From what I understand, Molnár must be moved by today, is that correct?

I thought he had to be moved by the end of the month, but I'm not sure.

I agree, the moves made this year thus far and the current roster make this a year to go all in.

Losing Fimis, Alfano, and Misiak + at least 3 of the 6 '05s (a very solid group minus Messier) is a lot of talent/seniority/leadership.

If we land Musty and only lose Roysten (Molnar is already gone it appears), then we have a playoff group of forwards in our top 8 and need to hope one of the younger guys grows a lot or gets streaky in the playoffs.

The back line is, at least IMO average or only slightly above average. Schaeffer has to carry our defense and players like Henry, Holomego, and Knight need to play big, strong hockey. Daviault will be Daviault and continue to provide some offensive rest to Schaeffer on the back end. The growth of at least 2 - 3 big defenders (Henry/Holomego/Knight/Ambrosio/Sauder) will be paramount for a deeper run.

Goalie...I truly think Erlinden is our guy. We need him to remain healthy, but I have zero confidence right now in Burns. He needs to grow quickly or we need to find someone who could play a game in a series, get the W, and change momentum.

Don't think you will get Barlow, lol. Maybe Musty you mean.

Just a question for clarity, can 2006 birth dates like Spence be traded in 2024 not to suggest he will be.

Thankyou

In that case would Musty and Pharand be reasonable for Spence?
Maybe if Sudbury planned on going for it next year but picks would have to be added in. I can’t see this trade happening though but i get where you’re coming from- would help Erie more this year and Sudbury more next year

That and Erie wouldn't be able to offload Spence for a ton of picks to reload next season. I could see Dave Brown trying to make it happen, but hopefully Stan sees this is NOT a good idea.

Actually original lineup had Abraham in and Garden out,now that's reversed
Plus Winegard was listed upfront plus 7D
Things were changed don't know why

First impressions seeing them live this season: Spence is good but he still doesn't look like a top 10 pick, certainly not an offensive star in the NHL. Royston seems much improved on the puck. They're definitely missing Schaefer. Hard to see this group being anything near a championship team - even with Musty. We'll see if they look any better period 2.

It takes Spence 2/3 rds of a season to get going

That’s how you rebound. It didn’t look pretty in the 1st, but I’m glad they broke the press and found a way to score. The PP has to get better.

I’m glad Erliden finally got a home ice win. His family is in town from Sweden.
