Anyone know of they keep a TOI for the OHL? It seems BJ is resorting to Hartsburg tactics already and not playing his full 4 lines consistently, already.
I think they do but it’s not public knowledge. I’ve always been curious of this.

Nicholls is being hung out to dry. Turn puck over to Othmann in your own zone for a point blank shot, what do you expect.

Nicholls needs pulled...that is a fair excuse for Sova trying to skate out of the zone. The other 5 goals, however.

The kid just isn't on this level.

Just embarrassing. 8-1 loss and now it’s 1 W in 6 games. Team looked so tired and motivated the entire game no effort at all whatsoever. BJ didn’t make any adjustments and team looked awful. GilMartin hasn’t done much at all and I agree is looking like a Jacob Golden type player. Team just skated on the ice, scored a goal and called it a night

The same dump and chase offense we witnessed from Hartsburg. The defense, which we predicted to be the strength, is probably only marginally functioning better than the offense. Earlier I pointed out the TOI stat...it appeared, and I may be wrong that players, and even lines, we missing for long periods of time. We were down 3 and 4-1 and our 3rd and 4th line were used sporadically. It isn't going to develop our younger players, major problem.

Nicholls is not a suitable back-up, period. He may be our best option as a reliable back-up but if you're leaving Gibbons up this much we need to move on. I realize Flint is likely a top team in the conference, but he (Nicholls) really didn't make any game changing saves...he struggled to make basic saves and gives up really bad rebounds.

I really liked watching Terrance and Spence together. I think their speed and skill matches well and they can get up and down fast. Add Cohen to that line and it could be special. Messier belongs, but needs confidence as does Edwards. Smith has improved quite a bit. Artichuk never quits and neither does Saganiuk.

I really don't know where this team goes from here. I would actually be surprised if we hit 20 wins with the way we are playing and man, that makes next season bleak.

I really don’t have much to add other than Artichuk plays like it’s his last game every time he plays.

BJ Adams said he felt the team was too individual and that they weren’t playing as a team. A quick jab at the defense. There’s no reason for a dman to be at the opposing teams net. They get beat on the breakaways because they play up further than the blue line and can’t get back fast enough.

Again, Dave Brown wake the coaching staff up.

1st Saginaw goal and it’s Kyrou with yet another defensive breakdown
We really should stop blaming the players… their coaching sucks. They don’t develop anyone anymore. That’s the issue. Kyrou has all the tools and skills. So why isn’t the DEFENSIVE head coach able to develop that side of his game? Idk, you tell me. Probably because he’s a mid tier assistant at best and we made him a head coach. It’s a problem and it’s going to run this franchise into the ground. If I’m Terrance, I ask for a trade by Christmas

Completely agree!

Misa was fun to watch, but Spence dominated. Man did he show up today.

To me it almost appeared after Saginaw scored their 3rd goal he came off the bench and went back to Gibbons, fist bump, and said "I got this and we got you".

Rookie to rookie. Good for Gibbons to settle down and get his first win.

What was interesting in OT Erie started with whichever 3 and as soon as the puck dropped, one of our skaters jumped off and it seemed to throw Saginaw off.

Terrance has been exciting to watch. He’s really improved since last season.

Kyrou, Gilmartin, Terrance started. Gilmartin won the face-off skated to the bench, Cohen jumped on and nearly had an open path to the goal.

Whatever we do this year: PLAY Spence please. Let this kid grow and learn because he is the only chance we have to salvage the future

The kid has possibly earned top 6 IMO. Since moving him to a line with Terrance and Cohen he shows he belongs.

No clue where Alfano is...possibly hurt? Johnston had also been missing.

I do agree, no matter what happens these younger kids need to develop and the future needs to be built around Spence, 100%.

Alfano has a non Covid Illness and Johnston has an injury.

Malcolm Spence is special. Fold the franchise if they can't build a successful team around him within the next 2-3 years.

I hope they explore other options before folding, but yes...heard OHL execs saying he could be the best thing in the OHL since McDavid to come through.

it won’t matter if we don’t have the drafting and developing around him. McDavid was amazing but DeBrincat, Strome, Brown, Raddysh bros, and to a lesser extent but still valid, guys like Maksimovich, Pettit, etc played a huge role in the success. Just ask Kingston with Shane Wright. You need more than 1 guy. Certainly the Otters in those days got impact imports in Dansk, Burakovsky, Cernak to help as well. They werent elite in the import draft (failing to land someone in 2014-15 was horrible asset management), but they were MUCH better than current times. So there is so much to work on beyond Spence. Spence is great but he’s not McDavid. And even with McDavid, it took a lot to win at the level they did. I’m just concerned that the coaching staff is very mediocre which is going to limit things. And they seem content or like too stubborn or cheap to admit the mistakes. That might lead to more guys asking for trades and that makes it tougher to sell 15/16 year olds, let alone imports, to come here. This year is going to be a 24-28 win team at best. Same as the prior years. But is that enough to fire BJ after 1 year? I highly doubt it unless Brown is fired but again… I have significant doubts. They will have to win 15-20 games for that to happen and they have just enough talent to avoid that. Certainly Gilmartin will help the win column too ;)

Regradless they are in a no win situation this year. If they win a bit more, say like 30-32 wins (and that’s peak results that aren’t likely), it just results in us retaining the crap staff we have without real needed changes. If we lose games more than prior years - That’s going to impact recruiting and signing players. Not to mention the poor drafting and asset management that already exists. We have a mountain to climb just to get back to 3-4 seed range.. let alone winning a conference or title

This past game no doubt was big for him !!

W LaLonde out for a few weeks and another couple injuries as well - we may not be totally out for the year .. another single point or OT win even would make the standings look slightly better in this early season
