After today game, Huson went from 9th in defenseman scoring to tie with Hedman at 4th. What an amazing season.
Still doesn't deserve the Calder , what a bum! After today game, Huson went from 9th in defenseman scoring to tie with Hedman at 4th. What an amazing season.
That's not fact name me one Calder race that wasn't decided by point production? (Or goalie stats when the odd goalie wins).I don’t consider the trophy a points race, some voters might, but the best voters will look at everything.
Defensive metrics should definitely be a part of the equation.
He will be back, hes just looking for metrics that hurt Hutson more than the othersThat's not fact name me one Calder race that wasn't decided by point production?
Where does Michkov rank among forwards in points? After today game, Huson went from 9th in defenseman scoring to tie with Hedman at 4th. What an amazing season.

Here it is. Nice to see the hands, this is by my count his second goal of the year 1:1 with goalie (breakaway, SO, or all alone in front). Probably his single biggest area of improvement but there's evidence he's got the finishing talent.
Not sure why you hate Laine, but whatever. The Habs record in games he scores is ridiculous. He has added an important element. To deny that is silly.Spoken like someone that went on HockeyDB and realized he got owned
If anything it strenghtens Hutson's claim to the award. He shined like a beacon in the dark.Is it Hutson or is it the team?
Hutson played 104 minutes during those 4 games and is a +4 during that time.
Every other dman is a - player during that stretch. The jackeye - Savard pair is -5, Carrier is -6, Matheson is -3.
Good things are happening when he's in the ice, bad things without him.
It should take a lot more than that. Hutson might get to 70 himself. At this point, Celebrini and Michkov would need 100+ to be equivalent, and that’s no exaggeration. Hutson is 5th in scoring for defensemen; the current 5th ranked forward is Connor McDavid with 90 points.Really good game by Lane. With the team MTL is building, he will be a perennial 60+ points d-man for the foreseeable future.
As for the Calder, many more games to go. But to beat him Michkov and Celebrini need to get to 70 points, which seems unlikely.
Hutson deserves to win. I mean, the last Habs player to win the Calder was.. Ken Dryden in 1971-72! They need a win.
This is a truly dazzling display of mental gymnastics skill. Your grace and technical elegance in performing these extremely difficult maneuvers is awe-inspiring.But is it a points race? Forwards primary goal is to score, defensemen primary goal is to prevent scoring. If one is better at their secondary responsibility much more than their primary responsibility, is that award worthy?
For the record, I think the Calder should go to Celebrini. He's the best of the 3 all around.
Hab fan here. I agree. All 4 are deserving but i have Lane leading the pack as of right now. Very close race.I was going to make a circle jerk joke, but this is better said.
Hutson's season is awesome. He'll probably win at this point because he's accelerating to the finish line. The other three are having amazing seasons as well for different reasons. "It's not even close" and "different galaxies" and "durr the other players suck" posts are very tiresome.
He's getting close to 70 pts this season. I believe he will be a perennial PPG d-man.Really good game by Lane. With the team MTL is building, he will be a perennial 60+ points d-man for the foreseeable future.

Hutson surely plays his part, but it's hard to say that he was the most important contributor.
Hutson had a great game, and his 1st assist was a beauty, but no need to exaggerate![]()
I don't think it's some laughable overexaggeration at all to be honest. I absolutely came away from that game thinking he was the best player on the ice. For either team.
Just came across this too
Player: xGF with Hutson on ice | xGF with Hutson off the ice
Barkov: 38.4% | 96.6%
Reinhart: 37.8% | 82.8%
Verhaeghe: 42.7% | 78.2%
Marchand: 12.6% | 86.5%
Bennett: 21.3% | 69.1%
Samoskevich: 30.5% | 86.2%
Lundell: 20.9% | 41.2%
In my limited viewings of Michkov, he has played a lot of hero hockey - flying the d-zone before his team had possession and leaving his team hemmed in. Torts was 100% right in trying to get him to play within the system and not screw his team over even if that meant that it would limit his offense.Torts cut his ice time for a chunk of the season and his play suffered because of it. People with agendas spun it to make it sound like Michkov couldnt hang and Torts had no choice but to cut his ice time...which was a false narrative.
People like Torts ruin the game. The league is better when a talent like Michkov is allowed to shine, not tied to a bench. Really dont understand why people defend people like Torts.
