I don't think it's some laughable overexaggeration at all to be honest. I absolutely came away from that game thinking he was the best player on the ice. For either team.

Just came across this too

Player: xGF with Hutson on ice | xGF with Hutson off the ice

Barkov: 38.4% | 96.6%
Reinhart: 37.8% | 82.8%
Verhaeghe: 42.7% | 78.2%
Marchand: 12.6% | 86.5%
Bennett: 21.3% | 69.1%
Samoskevich: 30.5% | 86.2%
Lundell: 20.9% | 41.2%

In my limited viewings of Michkov, he has played a lot of hero hockey - flying the d-zone before his team had possession and leaving his team hemmed in. Torts was 100% right in trying to get him to play within the system and not screw his team over even if that meant that it would limit his offense.
Michkov gave an interview to a Russian reporter after Torts was fired and said Torts has made him a better player.

My favourite comment from the first few pages of this thread is:

“Lane Hutson? Bwahaha”

That, along with the guy saying Seamus Casey was better than Hutson and posting every time he got a point, then silently dipping out when his production fell off a cliff.

Some other poster on Seamus Casey:

“He’s like Lane Hutson on steroids.”

Obviously not gonna say any names here, but I do recommend reading over the first few pages to look back at all the hating ass comments Hutson has gotten from the very start. There are some absolutely hilarious takes lol

...OR...

...we can move on and just enjoy a great final stretch of a great group of Calder candidates...

Hard to really fault anybody but stankoven was definitely overhyped for this race

...calling them out at the time, fine...going back to STILL harp on them a week later is a bit much...let's at least keep it up to date...
oh yeah like those non hockey twerps deserve any kind of pity. Lets not pretend they're gonna be big and not show up when Hutson or the Habs go thru a stretch.

They deserve all the mocking being handed out in this thread x1000

If only everyone posted like they might be wrong one day, instead of like they're definitely right and everyone else is dumb.
There's a difference between making contentious takes and one's in bad faith.

People, as you said, need to not be ignorant about differentiating between the two, unless they genuinely want to feign ignorance.

Hutson should also be considered for the Norris IMO
No other defenseman has an impact as big as Hutson on his team
Second best defenseman on the Habs is Matheson and the Habs has no 100 points player on their team

Hutson is pretty much carrying the Habs right now, which is absolutly insane (with Suzuki)
If he ends the season in 4th amongst D's, he'll likely get somebody to nominate him for the Norris...but he'll need like another 30 pts to have an actual shot at the Norris ;)

Yeah, I mean he’s a good young player, and I still think his upside could be somewhere in the Cole Caufield to Alex DeBrincat ballpark eventually, but the hype for him on the first few pages was just crazy - like, multiple people predicting point-per-game+ to 100+ points this season. Just delusional, and I said it then too, so this isn’t just me “harping” on takes after the fact, like someone else was trying to say.

Jokes on you, I've never been wrong about anything before.

(Don't look at my Kaprisov takes from when I underrated the quality of KHL competition).
