Epic Calder Race 2024-25

That’s my point. Anyone using defensive metrics to promote their man is grasping at straws. This is a points race with Wolf as a wild card.

But in a points race, if a defensman wins it, or is close, its his.
I don’t consider the trophy a points race, some voters might, but the best voters will look at everything.
Defensive metrics should definitely be a part of the equation.

As much as I like Hutson and think he'll win, March seems a bit premature for Habs fans to be doing victory laps.

Let's just celebrate how awesome he is without having victim complexes.
I was going to make a circle jerk joke, but this is better said.

Hutson's season is awesome. He'll probably win at this point because he's accelerating to the finish line. The other three are having amazing seasons as well for different reasons. "It's not even close" and "different galaxies" and "durr the other players suck" posts are very tiresome.

God, I miss real masculine defensemen like Derian Hatcher. Enough with this woke assists shit. Real men play the game the right way. What's even Lane's (girl name) elbows/60? Hopefully Torts takes over the Habs and Laney figure-skates into the ocean soon and leaves the game to MEN.

Then they should all lose the Calder to Wolf. Because they are all statistically poor defensively at this early stage in their careers.

They all cancel out defensively. All we are left with is offense.

Its Hutson and i'd go as far to say as its not even close anymore. He's 6 assist from breaking the rookie record for assist by a defenseman and has put up the most points by a rookie D since Lidstrom in 92 already. I'm not taking anything away from Michkov, Celebrini, and Wolf all those guys are already franchise cornerstones but, Hutson is having a record breaking campaign while being a major catalyst on a team vying for a playoff spot.

But is it a points race? Forwards primary goal is to score, defensemen primary goal is to prevent scoring. If one is better at their secondary responsibility much more than their primary responsibility, is that award worthy?

For the record, I think the Calder should go to Celebrini. He's the best of the 3 all around.
Are you trying to say Hutson is bad defensively?

If the season ended today, its Hutson by a landslide.

So saying Hutson is bad defensively is still a thing?

Hes playing 25 min a game on his off-side and doing amazing. You should watch him if you still think he cant play defense because you're wrong. He's fine.
It is for those that don't actually watch him play, or those that don't understand hockey

I didn’t. I said he replaced Monahan’s production. Look it up before pretending to know what you’re talking about. And that’s without mentioning that Monahan wasn’t a complete pile of shit 5v5 either
The only one pretending is you.
