And the reality is that it is a lot more likely this is a hot streak and he will regress to the first 21 games. But if you think he will continue on a 65-70 PT pace all the power to you.

Normally, I would agree, but you forget that his bump in production coincides with him getting the PP1 QB role. He could certainly end the season at a PPG pace taking him at 70. Personally my base case is 65.

Michkov also looked like PPG and then 7 games blank. Could very easily happen to Hutson.
Celebrini on the other hand looks as consistent as there is. He is just on another level and the impact he has for the sharks is much larger than Hutson for the habs

Right, and Celebrini couldn't go back to his 7pts in 11 games he started with?

20 pts in his last 16 games. He too is doing better than how he started, but naturally, only Hutson is on a hot streak and only Hutson could regress back.

You're blind to your own bias, but all the power to you.

Hutson now owns the Habs PP1 and it's doubtful he'll lose the position. Laine isn't going away either.

Does anyone seriously think that the Habs are making the playoffs though?
I guess you haven't really watched them since Laine has come back. It's made teams have to defend more than one line which in turn makes the entire team stronger...

5 points out with 2 games in hand on a few teams in front of them.

And they potentially have an NHL caliber back-up goalie now, which is a big plus.

Do I personally think they'll make it? Nope. But if they squeak into 7th or 8th... Lane Huston will be a huge reason considering his projected point totals and being second on the time in ice time per game.

Look, I have no problem saying Celebrini is a better player than Hutson but impact-wise there's no question Lane's is greater for the Habs. Macklin is the tip of the spear for the SJS but our boy is the straw that stirs the drink for MTL. #48 is the beginning of practically every offensive play for us.

Well most of the 1st half he didn't have Laine. Also having Carrier now in the 2nd half helps balance the D pairings. Also for a good portion of time he wasn't the go to power play but now he is. His PPG rate should thusly be stronger.
Scoring also tends to tighten up in the second half and Laine hasn't been as impact full as one would think, he is basically just another top 6 guy with a line of 12-8-2-10 (-4) with 8 PPG over that span and is a notoriously streaky player.

Also the Habs might trade a veteran if they are out of it at the deadline but then the narrative will shift to increased opportunity no doubt.

Hey man I'm a huge Habs homer and I was hoping for maybe 1pt over the weekend in Florida. We got 4 over 2 dominating performances. Maybe we do have a shot or at least be in the mix.
Well we all guess that you were a homer but they would have to jump over 3 teams plus squeeze out probably either TB, Ottawa or Boston of the last wild card and it's hard chasing.

In your next 6 games you will play 5 playoff teams and the black Hawks we will know more then but if they are still in the same spot it will be very tough.

No i haven't really and I haven't watched all of the teams they are chasing either and you probably haven't watched those teams so it's a push.

It's math basically and the Habs schedule gets tougher in the next 6 games if they gain ground substantially we can revisit this but like I said it's math.
5 points out with 2 games in hand on a few teams in front of them.

speaking of math they have 2 games on the Pens who also have 4 more points and aren't in a spot.

all the teams with spots like Ottawa have the same number of games, TB has played 2 fewer games and has 7 points on them for what it's worth
And they potentially have an NHL caliber back-up goalie now, which is a big plus.

Sure after 1 game you say this....okay.

I mean maybe he is but as a life long Canucks fan this is called the maybe strategy, ie maybe if 7 or 8 things happen then......

Well a fellow poster thinks Laine would be one of the reasons and maybe the back up goalie you are talking about?

Barring an injury Celebrini is the easy favorite here.

Maybe look in the mirror and re read your post, possible capable NHL back up after a single game and heck you don't even think the habs are going to make the playoffs but keep doing you and book some tee times for spring.

I don't need to book tee times - I have an anytime membership. But thanks for worrying about me babe! 😘

I have been a big fan of Philly over the years and had been part of their HF board group for the last 8 years . I completely lost my shit with Tort's A hole tactic's and antics over the last few years and have quit their board and cheering for them till he is gone . His X and O's of the game are completely wrong for the modern NHL game and that he is the only star that is allowed on that roster .
Totally get your point. I also have given up on them until he's gone.

Michkov outplaying celebrini in the head to head matchup tonight. 94% xG% versus 22% for celebrini

Doesn’t Celebrini have 6 shots to Michkov’s 2 shots? And they both have zero points. But yeah, Michkov is slaying him out there.

Michkov fans often make me chuckle. It’s a shame because I really like him as a player and want to pull for him, but several posters here make it hard.

Celebrini as we speak is still the early favorite but Lane is right there breathing down his back.
