40 year old? Damn, I am 36 I should consider myself 40 too? Sad face

:sarcasm:

I just threw out a number, he is 37 but still not that far off. When COVID is over some of us will feel like we aged more in lockdown than pre-COVID, so we are all practically 40.

Psst! It's never ending. Life as it was is over. They have their sights on your vehicle and your property next.

As for the Blue Jays, there's an outside possibility that this current version could have the best September in the history of the Blue Jays. There's enough talent and pitching for that to happen.

It's a good thing that time is a meaningless artificial affectation human beings created in order to mark the progression towards the inevitable heat death of the universe. From that perspective none of it matters so it's all OK!

Morosi agrees the Jays should prioritize pitching over signing Semien:

The hottest-hitting prospect in each org.
Blue Jays: Rikelbin De Castro, SS(No. 15)

Signed for $1.2 million out of the Dominican Republic in July 2019, De Castro is finally getting his first taste of the pros this summer, and he's ending on a strong note. He owns a .432/.553/.676 line with six extra-base hits and a near-even 9/8 K/BB ratio over his last 12 games with the Blue Jays’ Florida Complex League affiliate. De Castro earns his best grades on the defensive side, but his quick swing gives him the potential to be above-average with his hit tool as well.

If its Ray over Semien then I agree

Of course, this is all assuming a certain budget. If Rogers is willing to pony up and go over the 160 mark, then, yes, they can resign Semien. I've always been operating under the assumption 150 is about where they want to be. If they're willing to go way over that, then, sure, why not resign Semien?

So we might end up wasting breakout seasons by Vlad, Teo, and Bo in combination with career years from Semien and Ray. That's pretty sobering.

The obvious downfall of this team this year was its horrible bullpen. They waited too long to fix it and it cost them many of games. With a solid bullpen like they have now, they easily could have been 7-10 games better and comfortably in a playoff spot right now.

My concern is that we have needed every bit of offence that this team has given this year to still be battling for a playoff spot. It cannot be underestimated how important Semien is to this teams arsenal. Simply stating pitching over Semien wont get us to where we want to be.

Yes everyone continuing to progress and a healthy Springer will do well for this team. But I really understand now when Oakland called Semien "SAUCE". He literally is what makes the dish complete. It is essential in my eyes to bring Semien back for this team to succeed. He is a leader both on and off the field. He along with Springer really bring heart to this team and enthusiasm.

Rogers needs to open the pocket book and bring back both Ray and Semien. Anything short of that would be a step back for this organization.

It is, someone was saying we could have 2 MVP candidates (Vladdy and Semien), a Cy Young candidate (Ray), a rookie of the year candidate (Manoah), 3 Silver Sluggers (Vladdy, Semien and Teo) with the 2nd best offense in league and the 2nd best rotation since July 1st and still miss the playoffs.

Well, that's not really true. They started making trades fairly early this year to address it. It's not that they waited too long, it's just the moves made little difference.

Kind of a cheap one thrown in there at the end. I mean where does our offense rank since July 1st - gotta be near the bottom, no?

Just tells you how important BP is, I guess.

Anyway...you say Manaea, I say Manoah.

All of April, May and June nothing of significance was done to the bullpen until we acquired Cimber on June 29 and then Richards a week later.

For the first 3 months of the season by my counts the bullpen gave up 11 games by one run when we were leading entering the 7th inning. If you win 5 of those games where are the Jays right now in the standings?

The Jays new in Spring that we lost our closer and within the first 3 weeks of the season lost 2 of the most effective power arms in our bullpen (Phelps, Merryweather), shortly after lost Cole. After the 1st month of the season Chatwood and Dolis became non-options in the bullpen. Montoyo time and time again went back to them costing us losses.

I strongly believe had the Jays made the changes they needed to when these injuries occurred. We would not be where we are today. That was our downfall.

Lots of injuries early didn’t help either.

Lots of nice pitching performances up and down the ladder yesterday.
Palmer and Dominguez in DUN were great; Kloff was excellent in VAN; Logue in Buffalo with a nice bounce back. Elvis started in NH too, but only went a couple innings.

Welcome to the AL East.

Wait until you see what the Yankees and Red Sox do this offseason with such a stacked free agency.

Good thing is it sounds like we'll be spending more money than some people think.

Jays just claimed 3B/Util Jake Lamb off waivers from Chicago. Connor Overton was DFA'd to make room.

mediocre offensive player and underwhelming defensive player this season (because otherwise he wouldn't be on waivers). Probably means we can kiss any chance of Smith getting some run goodbye.

It’s also hard to replace 4 arms early in the season when teams aren’t looking to make trades really. Hard when they are gone for so long as well

Makes no sense to add a scrub and not just let Smith try and find his footing
