fact is Lou is/was old school, that breed is extinct, can you picture Scottie Bowman/Toe Blake/Punch Imlach et al airing how tough the job is on their families and thus themselves, they need to talk it over with their wives?????
Unqualified 32 year old handed a dream job of a lifetime. Bets everything on his core, and after 5 failures, now says this season took a toll on his family. I mean what were you expecting when you took the job ??

Im sure we could arrange a few calls and flights if theres mutual interest. It sounds like he may have interviewed in Pitts already.
Pitt doesn't have the 3 critical decisions the Leafs have to make by July 1st

They could talk (with permission from the Canes) but he isn't leaving the Canes until their season is done.

as a fellow chemist I want Tulsky in here just for that reason alone lol

Very interesting career trajectory he's had
Yeah the man has a PhD in chemistry and holds 19 patents! He seems like a brilliant individual. I know people will inevitably draw comparisons to Dubas, but I see it more like Tulsky is what Dubas thinks he is. He did wonders for Carolina and would have even more resources available to him as Leafs GM

Dubas should have been doing his on the job learning in a much smaller market (or a longer apprenticeship as asst GM) and then coming to Toronto.

The dilemma now, is that MLSE has allowed Dubas (and Shanahan to lesser extent) to "develop" over the past number of years so that he now seems to be a pretty strong GM. To allow him to leave now would be exactly where this org has made it's biggest mistakes in the past. Allowing an asset to learn and develop here, then allow them to leave and have success elsewhere.

Keefe however, doesn't seem to have developed much at all and needs to be replaced.ASAP

The problem here is that the Canes could be playing for another 4 weeks and MLSE doesn't have the luxury of waiting that long.
Dubas forced Shannys hand with the Avs "request" which then led to Lou being forced out (probably earlier than expected). Hes earned every bit of scorn from the fan base without a shred of sympathy.

Question: When an organization hires a greenhorn President, who hires a greenhorn GM, who hires a greenhorn Coach what could possibly go wrong?

Answer: Everything

Failure and Accountability resides with Leafs Ownership, and some would say they're being justly rewarded for failure based on being held accountable, as to why they would turn the reigns of their fortune 500 company to inexperience and under-qualified team, rewarding them with prime job opportunities without the qualifications on their resumes that suggest this would bring success.

What you're essentially saying Ownership should be considering a Clean Sweep of President, GM and Coach holding themselves accountable, and reset the clock, and try again this time with qualified people to try and build a winning culture that breeds success and not failure.
winner winner chicken dinner............

Matthews admitted to lingering hand injury, had a significant amount of shots, blocked shots and hits. He's a big center, hart winner, Lindsey winner, two time Maurice Richard winner, and deals with the media very well. If he re-signs the easy answer is to keep him.

It's between Nylander and Marner. Both have their flaws, both have their strengths. Marner better defensively, Nylander more clutch and looks much more comfortable in playoff hockey. Nylanders cap is about to get much closer to Marners.

We are on the clock because Tavares is bound to keep regressing with each year.

If Marner is traded then JT may want to leave

I don't want marner in the east trade him to the west
why not? if we are so confident that he can't get it done in the playoffs then the team shouldn't limit themselves and just make the best trade possible. if he comes back to torch us in the playoffs then so be it

i would also bring in a VP of hockey ops with experience.

Yeah I think ideally you want a mix of experience levels and a diversity of opinions. The problem with the Leafs front office/coaches is pretty much everyone is a beginner learning on the job, and everyone thinks the same way. Tulsky would be great as a first time GM, as long as he's insulated with experienced people he can lean on if necessary

Ziesburger said what I said - only game 2 vs Tampa they played to their potential, the rest of the games they got outplayed. Could have easily lost in 1st round again. If that happend, no question everyone gone even Shanny.

Kind of over all of this. We need to start fresh

We need somebody with a fresh set of eyes and ideas. Dumb to keep running this losing management team back.

heavy lies the crown, not everyone is cut out for being a leader, don't tell me someone purported to be as smart as Dubas hadn't figured that out before Monday. He certainly wasn't exuding his usual air of arrogance at Monday's presser............

I just don’t know how you would go from raw and exhausted and emotional and bringing up your family pressures and they jump right back into being Corporate Kyle all buttoned up and talking the Shapiro Aktins game.

This isn't exactly true though is it? Didn't Dubas admit after either the Columbus series or the Montreal series that they thought over a deal for one of the core players and decided that it didn't make sense at the time? He did admit it was mulled over.

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong?
not sure about that, but I distinctly remember Dubas verbally promising not to trade Nylander.......

Expect Multiple Bombs Says Insider

Chris Johnston of TSN was on OverDrive and discussed Dubas’ comments. When asked if he thought there would be change, either at the coach, GM, or Presidency level, Johnston responded, “We should be bracing for a bomb and potentially multiple bombs.” He then went on to say that he’s been around a lot of locker room clean-out days in Toronto and this was by far “the most unusual day I’ve spent down there.”

He noted it was a departure from years past when everything was quite organized and said it felt like a lot was up in the air. “It speaks to where they’re at as an organization, they’re hour by hour right now.” As of now, the Leafs don’t know who their GM is going to be, and “the summer is coming quick.” Johnston said that even if Dubas comes back, this is the first time the GM has been on record saying he would even contemplate trading one of his “core four”.

Why would we “brace” for change like this is a bad thing? Does one “brace” for Christmas Day?
