I am a Leaf fan until I die... hopefully it ends there lol

But, I would not blame anyone for jumping ship.

The Leafs are a money making machine. So really, the pressure to win is low from that perspective. Like, they want to win, but they do not need to to be profitable.

So, until the losing starts to hit MLSE's bottom line (tickets, merch, tv numbers), I am not sure anyone is really all that upset on the business side.
We aren’t lucky enough to have those who claim they “will jump ship”, to actually do it. They’ll be back with the same complaints and threats of leaving next year.

What will happen if “losing starts to hit the bottom line’ ?

Just give me the bottom line.
That’s it for me. If anything big is announced we’ll hear about it minutes after they say it otherwise it will just be the usual spins

Leafland
You wanna trade Mcdavid for Matthews straight up and see where EDM ends up compared to TO. Not close bruh.
Edmonton would be a better team. Mcdavid and draisitel think that getting 4 points but ending up -4 is ok. Even the best player in the world can’t outscore his defensive shortcomings

I think this Leafs management team have been fairly honest with how what they intend to do in the off-season, especially in regards to doing major changes and what not. I'm interested to see how they view it and if Shanahan has any plans on making changes there as well.

I'd be surprised if coaching doesn't get a big change... again. They changed a lot of the assistant coaches over the years, but I do think it might be time to change the head coach too, but this might be a thing to keep a short leash on.

Will anyone even bother watching this? What’s the point?

The worst thing a sports team can put its fans through is so much continued failure that fans aren't even upset or angry anymore when the team loses.

That was me when that OT goal went in. It was just a numb feeling of inevitability, and so I won't watch today's presser because I really don't care what they say. Bring Dubas back, bring Keefe back, bring the core back, I don't think it matters at this point.

This franchise under it's current leadership (MLSE down through Shanahan) does not know how to build an hockey department and roster that can win a Stanley Cup, nor even provide a shot at it. That will not change no matter who comes back here.

As Logan Roy said of his children in Succession, can be said of the Leafs organization: "you are not serious people."

I wonder if "we can and we will" will be brought up. My prediction is that there will be framing and spinning at this media event of the likes we never seen before. We will be told this was the best season since Shanahan took over the team. We will be told about how it was an incremental step forward in the right direction.

Points I'd love to see addressed:

1. Florida are a younger team than this Leafs' team. Carolina are a younger team. How can you paint yourself any longer as some young inexperienced team still learning how to win?
2. Was 2022-23's goaltending situation acceptable for a Stanley Cup contender?
3. It's perceived that this team is being out-coached.
4. What about Kyle Dubas' behaviour in the press box? I've personally seen people get suspended/sanctioned for such behaviour out in the real world. If some other employee of MLSE did that in the office, would that be dismissed as "passion"?
5. Would it be an acceptable position for the team to be in if both Matthews and Nylander were not extended by May of 2024?
6. It was poor optics the lack of reaction by the teammates on the ice when certain incidents occurred during these playoff series and in previous seasons. It makes the team seem disinterested and not cohesive.

My best guess is that Dubas will tell MLSE that he's only staying if he's allowed to keep it all together. Work on extensions for the core 3, keep Keefe, and keep trying at it over and over again. Otherwise, he's going elsewhere and will probably try and trade to GET as many of the core 3 as he can.

No decision has been made as of yet, so we'll hear absolutely nothing today. Just "unlucky bounces", "worked hard", "finally got over the hump", "I believe in this group."

Nothing more than that.

I felt sick to my stomach. I mean how much more do you need to see? Dreger also said, Keefe is a good coach but was outcoached again. He seriously asked, who is better? The actually pay this moron well. I am out of words.

Which team makes that trade ? Here's a clue, it would not be Edmonton. Sorry, hearing Dreger suggest they will bring back the 3 stooges has put me in a sour mood.

Just give me the bottom line.
It is really a shame they do not do a town hall with the fans.

Where’s this Shanny is gone but Dubie stays stuff originating, because that makes absolutely zero sense to me?

Also if Keefe is coming back I officially give up on this team.

Some in the media have been openly campaigning for Kyle the entire season; Johnston, Mirtle, Siegel, Mike Johnson to name a few even before the playoffs.

IMO, Keefe & Dubas are attached at the hip for these results. If Dubas comes back then I personally can't see him firing Keefe. Especially since just last year he said Keefe is the next Trotz. And if Dubas is gone then no chance Keefe survives.

I wonder if they'll ask Kyle what books he's been reading this season ?

Accountability from top to bottom. :sarcasm:

It's pretty easy to tell which media members get most of their inside info from Kyle.

They're the same ones currently begging MLSE to promote him to president for some reason
