His shooting, his processing of the play, his skating, puck protection, his play away from the puck...

Just too many tools not to be a top 6 player. The tools and tool box seem to be there.
I just hope he can stay healthy with how rugged and how fast his style of play is.

If we can get Monahan back healthy, or get Dubois, we should be a pretty good bubble team. With all the good wingers we have, we really need a 3c that's better offensively than Dvo.

Did you discount for half the team being injured for next year in your prediction?

True, that statement was based on an unstated predicate: we'll be healthy.

Hopefully HuGo can suss out what has been causing all the injuries this summer and correct the problem.

7 -G 2 A in 9 games with the Rockets. Nice start. Let's see how he does in the playoffs.

Monahan definitely injured himself playing through a different injury. Several other players came back, played hurt, and ended up being done. Dach’s concussion worries me.

The habs are going to have to find a way to determine who is injured and to keep them off the ice.

If we are talking about young MaxPac, Heine is that level of skater,
but he doesn't have quite MaxPac's shot. He maybe a stronger 200 ft
player. But Max showed this in the NHL. Heine still needs to. For me
this could be next year, but I would like him to play at least 20-30 AHL
games, and then evaluate.

Iirc Max was shooting peas when he was younger. He beefed up his legs and shot quite a bit before being the least bit dominant.

Heineman, RHP and Roy all look like they should be regulars for us next year.
Hmm I think RHP is in, but Mtl is also getting in a good spot where we can actually let folks develop in the minors. Nothing wrong with going there to learn first.

That being said, i hope you are right; I am looking to see what Roy has got - he seems to really have backed up his claims that he needed to work harder a few years back.

His shooting, his processing of the play, his skating, puck protection, his play away from the puck...

Agreed! I was surprised at how fast he seems to have gotten accustomed to NA ice.
However, your post reminds me that all those assets are things that Armia has been touted as having and that guy must be the most friggin frustrating player for coaches who see what he's got and how he isnt using it in a constant manner.

Unless you mean before the draft, that is not true. Paccioretty impressed at his very first development camp by having a very good shot.
Perhaps what I remember is him saying he used to be a pass-first player. Either way he took the time to mature before entering the show.

I truly believe that he is going to be a good one at NHL level. Heineman, Beck and Roy have all great two-way qaulities and great offensive potential to become important players for Habs. Good time to be a Habs fan!!

These are good players. But to win you need elite players and very good players. Point, Hedman, Kucherov, Stamkos, Vasilevski, Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Letang, Makar, MacKinnon, Rantanen, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Backstrom, Carlsson, Kane, Toews, Keith, Hossa, ...

St. Louis were an exception.

St. Louis were an exception.

-The Bruins won in 2011 with no player over 62 points and Chara as their biggest star. Bergeron was their top forward and Tim Thomas (The most overrated goalie ever to play who would have been a disaster with any other team other than Boston as his brutal rebounds were rarely put back into his net)

-The Kings won in 2014 with Kopitar leading the team with 70 points. Doughty and Quick were also huge parts but not exactly a star studded lineup.

-I would hardly consider Kuznetsov (never reached 30 goals and only surpassed a ppg once) or Guentzel (riding Crosby's coat tails) to be "elte" players who belong in the same category as the other players that you listed.

-St. Louis won with zero ppg players and O'Reilly and Tarasenko who are hardly in the elite category and Pietrangelo on defence. I could easily see HuGo building a better team than this with the foundation that is already there.

Of course it helps to have multiple top of the food chain elite player's complimented with good/very good players but you don't "need" to have them. I watched this very organization win Cups in 86 and 93 with zero elite skaters, just a group of good/very good players and an elite Goaltender. There is no formula or rules to determine which teams are going to win a cup as I have seen all sorts over the last 40 years do it with entirely different rosters/philosophies.
