Hopefully he can stay healthy. He didn't play for Laval at all last year due to injury then was injured in training camp so we didn't see as much of him as I'd hoped.
He plays a really intense style. Always hounding the puck carrier and throwing his body around.

I don't know if he can continue to play that style and stay healthy.

The drafting the last 5 years is looking good though overall. It's still too early to judge. Of course most draft picks don't make it so it's no surprise one is able to create a list of a bunch of individual picks that didn't make it.

Haven't failed yet:
2022: no definite busts yet
2021: Mailloux, Kidney, Kapanen, Trudeau, Roy, Simoneau
2020: Guhle, Farrell, Dobes
2019: Caufield, RHP, Struble, Norlinder, Fairbrother
2018: KK, Ylonen, Romanov, Harris
2017: -
2016: Sergachev, Pez

you only need one or 2 players to make it for a draft year to be a success.
Primeau hadn't failed yet.

Watching him last night , he was playing pretty much exactly the way he did at the 2022 camp, where he had a lot of success. He might be the type of euro prospect who will actually be better in NA, as it works well with a lot of his strengths style wise . The big ice takes away some of the impact of his speed and physicality, on the smaller ice it turns into a big plus. His shot is pro level so that translate pretty much everywhere, get him the puck around the net and he can do some damage with that alone.

What a beautiful shot and puck placement.

He has nhl level tools. Thats for sure. The speed, aggressiveness, agility, and shot are all there.

I'm hoping he can become a 15-15 middle six winger at minimum.

Part of the minimum for me is also that he's able to stay healthy. With his style that's a big concern for me.

Glad to see Heineman in NA with Laval.... But he might just play a handful of games only with Laval having a very hard time making the AHL PLayoffs.

The team Defence and PK are not good. I'm kind of surprised they lost last night though, getting Richard back and Heineman. They wasted so many PP opportunities last night.

Good to hear. They were talking about his game on 690 today. But I never had time to listen.

A player who can try to fill Lehky's role.

maybe Habs should look at his value around the league; I think they should trade him + Dach for a draft selection or a younger player; it would fit better with the core of the team once we will finish the rebuild next 5-6 years. Then Habs are going to be in the window to be contender to win the Cup for 2-3 seasons....Trust me , i am an expert about rebuilding and about time laps it takes, they say i am one of the, if not the best in that kind of evaluation. See my exam when i was 27 years old, finishing my grade 6

Still unsure about Heineman's ultimate potential as an NHLer, but I've liked what I've seen so far from his (albeit very short) stint with Laval.

He has very good (and smooth) 4-way skating, shows guts, battles hard for puck possession, his arsenal of shots is pretty good too, he plays a proactive up-tempo game in all three zones, and defends generally well to boot though he must still adapt to NA ice in that sense. And though Emil Heineman isn't the most physical player I know, nor the most imposing with his somewhat thin frame by NHL standards, I've also liked his strength/balance and how efficiently he involves himself in board battles.

So yeah, we've definitely got an NHLer on our hands with him. But what remains to be seen is if Heineman manages to make himself a long-term fixture on our team instead of being more in line with a Pezzetta type of player, or a Ryan White. And what role he ultimately ends up filling on our team still needs to be more clearly defined.

Personally, I just like the type of player that Emil Heineman is, his never give-up attitude, just like I used to like Lehkonen's two-way game and fearless approach, they are my "jam" if you will.

And so I'll be cheering for him to surprise people at camp next year, perhaps even secure himself an opening roster spot although I think an extra year in the AHL could help acclimate him better.

Trade Dach for a draft pick? And a younger player? Dach is 22 and has 1C or 2C potential. Lay off the pipe my man
