The Calgary boards, for what it’s worth, don’t seem to view him as much of a loss.

Then again they probably thought/would have thought MSL was no big loss. Not comparing them as players of course just hoping they’re underestimating Heineman.

Deal seems fair to both teams

Yeah, I don't weigh the fan opinion much at all, especially for a European prospect who the vast majority have never seen play for themselves.

We will just have to wait and see.

Judging from the video posted in reply #32, like in all prospects videos he looks like the best thing since sliced bread. But the one thing that stands out to me is his very quick release, which is a skill that translates well into any level of play I think. Cautiously optimistic.

They maybe feared they'd lose Pelletier, Zary, Coronato or even Wolf. Heineman also came from the Bennett trade, so he hasn't been in their system for too long. He's a good prospect, more of a bottom 6 one realistically, but hopefully a middle 6 scorer.

A bigger Lehknonen would be nice. Hopefully he doesn't forget how to shoot the puck once he comes here like Lehkonen though.
Lehkonen didn't forget how to shoot.. his weakness is being able to get his awesome shot off with good decision making. He sorely lacks shot decision making. Maybe it's the lack of space and time.

Thought there were some here really high on him in his draft year, WTKs maybe?
Couldn't have been many too high on him. He went 85th in our draft and 43rd in real life.

I had him in my Top-60, but I didn't take part in the draft that one year.

hope so.

I like a lot about Mysak.

Im not a big Mysak fan personally, has limited skills and not very fast for his size. He is nothing special, we could have hit much higher with a kid like Chromiak or Cuylle... I would have gambled on a kid like Jurmo as well.

tied for 2nd on his team in goals, his team is just a few points behind Frolunda in the standings.

Good to see him spend a few years in the SHL, he can come over any time but much like Norlinder, since he's a non 1st round pick it's NHL or back to the SHL.

Interesting that they had eyes on him, the teams leading scorer is Max Veronneau who is having a breakout year, I've wondered if he would look to come back. The Habs were rumored to be interested in signing him out of Princeton but he opted for Sens and it did not go very well. Wonder if the Habs were looking at him and Heineman jumped out to them.

Would you blame Florida for the Bennett trade? It had nothing to do with Heineman. Florida saw a great short term opportunity and they made the trade. That does not prevent Heineman to become a good player down the line.

Traded twice before his 21st birthday. Got some people to prove wrong!

Has been to Calgarys or Florida’s camps/preseason games? Wonder how he looked

This trade is very similar to the one Gorton made in 2018 with Rick Nash. He got 1st rounder (#26), Ryan Lindgren and two players. He traded his #26 pick to Ottawa for #22 and picked K'Andre Miller with it. Now, Miller and Lindgren are the second D pairing for the Rangers. So Heineman is the Lindgren of that trade, and the pick is likely to be better than #26.
