The Calgary boards, for what it’s worth, don’t seem to view him as much of a loss.

Then again they probably thought/would have thought MSL was no big loss. Not comparing them as players of course just hoping they’re underestimating Heineman.

Deal seems fair to both teams

I wouldn’t say for sure. There is pretty big upside with Heineman I’d say. The floor is decent as well. If he was tearing up the AHL instead it would be a lot easier to tell.

Can't wait to see his development.

If Hughes and Gorton continue to get picks and prospects like that, the future of Montreal Canadiens will be great, no doubt!!

A big and skilled Swedish winger in the Habs system? This truly is a new era! I can count Swedish Habs on one hand and I've been watching this team 37 years.
Then you're not counting right. ;)

Off the top of my head;

Naslund, Popovic, Dackell, Sundstrom, Murray, Norlinder, Gustafsson, Folin, Vejdemo...

Lehkonen with better finish?
Maybe, he seems to have a good shot. Plus he has 2 inch on him and still room to fill in size.

I think he could be an excellent swiss-knife kind of player for us. A 20-20 two-way winger who forecheck and win board battle would be great value for Toffoli. This is without considering the prospect we are going to get with the late first on top of it.

I like the trade.

I remember this Draft Dynasty video a couple of years back that drew my interest in him.

Wonder how he's progressed.

Let's say this guy turns out to be a middle sixer,

A 3rd line of

Heineman - Poehling - Ylonen could be interesting eventually. All good skaters, solid two way games. Poehling and Heineman have size.

This is going to be one of the first big tests of Gorton's scouting ability.

We needed some size on wings in our prospect pool and just got it. Happy about this one.

Reading scout reports, outside some of the Lekhonen similarities, I also see a "MSL type player":
- fast skater,
- good IQ/cerebral player
- knows what to do without the puck and with it

Even if he tops out as a bottom six guy, it will be a nice change to fill out our bottom six with young guys from our system.

This is a welcomed changed as opposed to giving up assets or paying guys $3M to play on our 4th line.

He reminds me a bit Of Anderson.. great speed out of the blocks.. heavy shot.. not the most skilled but.. that what he reminds me.

I wouldnt mind a 2nd anderson.. but we gotta be patient. We can tank 2 years with Bedard available I doubt many people would complain.

It'll be interesting to see where he slides into our prospect rankings, especially if he keeps up the recent hot streak in points

I wished Heineman to drop mid 2nd the year we drafted Mysak and Tuch. Heineman is a much better prospect than both. At worst a great 3rd line winger with size, IQ and very high compete level. A bigger Lehkonen with a better shot seems fair.

hope so.

I like a lot about Mysak.

Flames fan coming in peace.

That's because he's playing in SHL and his numbers don't pop out, mostly because of his TOI and a cold start.

He has a nice trigger, great speed when he's going for zone entries (but need some tweaks for supporting them), good with and without the puck on both ends. Need to work on his NZ play, but nothing that can't be worked on and is nothing too surprising for a young winger.
