So you think Bruce and Yeo are telling Russo this insiderrrrrr information? Perhaps Judd Brackett has secret microphones and taps in the locker room and he’s relaying to his best pal Russo who confirms it with his ever so healthy, lively, “gut” feeling.

This man must be a prophet or something, I mean he lives in the middle of nowhere, has people believing everything he says to be credible, and has a very cultural, perhaps even hindsight level of guts.

Again, nobody is saying Pettersson may NOT want out. We also don’t know if he wants to stay. Hence its speculation. Unless a closer source that’s not 3000 kilometres away and is a direct source says otherwise (like his agent), then it’s speculative at best.

His agent saying he wants to stay is the most credible source we have that’s directly connected to Pettersson. Yes, he may be just saying it for obvious reasons, but that’s probably all the info we really have on what he wants. We can speculate whether his agent is lying or not, but he remains to be more credible than any random guy across the border.

Sorry for the bump, but it's too perfect.

It's kind of wierd that it was Russo... A beat writer (or insiderrrrrr if you prefere) in the middle of nowhere 3000 kilometer's away got the exclusive interview with Boudreau less then 48 hours after he's been canned by the Canucks...

Because he’s a former Wild head coach? What’s your point?

Vancouver……just run so poorly. Should be a destination players want to go to not bail on. Front office needs a thorough cleaning.

Michael Russo of the Athletic reported he wants everyone to click on his article and generate revenue for himself. No better way to create interest than to use an attention grabbing headline and writing an article based on assumptions/things he's heard which should piss off Canuck fans/enable Internet haters and cause lots of internet traffic for the Athletic National Enquirer

You're all over this thread saying how could an insider from the states, 3000k away have any knowledge in the Canucks orginzation, despite people showing the close relationship Russo has with the literal head coach.

Kind of Ironic he's the one that gets the exclusive interview and not someone from the Vancouver press corps.... There are hundres of writers. Why did an insiderrrrr from the states get the interview?

It's almost like the they have a pre-existing personal relationship...

What's kind of funny, and got completely overlooked during this Russo credibility argument, is he probably heard it from Pat Brisson himself (only for Brisson to them have to provide cover in the media). The source of players being unhappy is most often the agent.

And Russo may have some connections to the Pat Brisson... I wonder why a Vegas drafted prospect, playing at Michigan is getting a profile done by Russo from the middle of nowhere.

Feature he did on Brenden Brisson and Family.

Why is Russo talking to Pat Brisson about the MacKinnon negotiations happening 5 states away for a team he doesn't cover 4 days before the deal closed.(Should note the Wild don't have a single Brisson client at the moment).

Almost like he has connections basically everywhere.

Man, so much wrong with this post.

For starters - what article are you even talking about? This whole thread is based off a comment Russo made on a podcast. There was never an article with a click bait headline as you are insinuating.

Do you also believe writers at The Athletic get a commission based on the number of clicks their articles get? I mean, how else would he be generating revenue for himself by supposedly directing people to this click bait article that doesn't even exist?

Even if his revenue was somehow tied to how many clicks he gets (it isn't), you really think someone of Russo's status is at the point that they need to make stuff up to get some attention?

The issue is obviously JT Miller. There is zero love or respect between the two.
Saw the look on Petterson's face when JT Miller was banging his stick on the board sitting on the bench when the Oilers scored goal #4, that ended being disallowed for goalie interference, for Boudreau's last game as Vancouver's coach??

Avs would love to have EP. Would look good on the 2nd line.

Rantanen for EP 1 for 1

Rantanen has been the horse this year keeping us in the playoffs as we have dealt with injuries but centers are different and we most definitely need one that can drive the 2nd line. With wingers being easier to get star wingers like Rantanen are worth a lot in their own right. Would hate to send Rants to Vancouver but if it got us EP it would be worth it.

Love Rantanen, but if Vancouver moves on from him I don't really see how this makes any sense for them.

They will want a bluechip young C or RD, the last thing they need is more wingers.

i think the point is you can't discount someone who has been covering the league as long as Russo has JUST because he's not primarily in Vancouver. people move around and stay in contact with the players/staff they've developed relationships with.

Pettersson is better than Suzuki, that’s not some controversial statement. They could get him easy if they wanted.

Perhaps Vancouver should try not doing that then.

I hope you understand what I’m trying to say here.

Hate losing does not mean he wants out.

If he does want out I also understand why. So far nothing suggests he wants out.

Except that Vancouver has made the playoffs once since he arrived and doesn't appear close to making them in the next couple of years. If he hates losing bad enough, he just might want out.

As a free agent? Cause if it's a trade, they would be sending salary back.
