Speculation: Elias Pettersson will want out of Vancouver (Russo of the Athletic)

Yes but its obviously tricky when you think of a couple roster players the canucks would covet and the same time the other team is willing to part with.
True, depends how GMs covet a player of his skill

There's only one Russo that matters:

It’s entirely possible that pettersen may want out after this contract ( he’s already stated he wants to win ), but saying “pettersen is GOING to want out because . . . stuff” is incredibly weak “journalism”

It’s a message board, we’re using normal English and I’m applying the definition of a word. I don’t think it’s a big deal either way, I’m not the one taking issue with the prefix of the thread.

Everyone is on your ass because you are 100% incorrect. End of story. I’m not guessing here. And you’ve doubled and tripled down. Stop playing the victim and look up the definition of speculation. It’s become a bigger deal than necessary because you’ve died on this hill. But why? The only reason I’m involved is because you were being so stubborn about being wrong that I couldn’t help but say something.

I’m abandoning this issue, I don’t care anymore given how this can fit into either prefix. It would be great if we could discuss the topic and not a superficial formality but you do you.

Can't blame him, that team is a tire fire.
I can. If McDavid was willing to commit to the freaking Oilers, Pettersson can be part of the solution in Vancouver. I'm not trying to say like there's zero reason for him not to re-sign, just saying I'm not letting him completely off the hook.

Oilers at least had a future with some decent prospects and cap flexibility. We have neither. This team sucks and their future outlook is terrible. Why should an athlete have to waste their prime years on a bottom feeder because the front office mismanaged it over the last decade?

Edmonton had a clear direction they were trying to go, and it most certainly wasn't a rebuild.

Vancouver looks like it should rebuild, but no one knows what they're actually trying to do.

This is what happens when you have an owner that plays shadow GM and a bunch of yes man (and woman) running the team. Really nothing has changed from Benning days, it’s the exact same plan, I’d want out as well if I was a player here.

Vancouver will probably front load the hell out of his contract with absurd SB’s this offseason as a way to entice him

Probably something like Marner who made like $40 million in the first 2 years

Then you have a tenuous grasp of the English language.

"My gut says Elias is going to want to move on. That's just my gut. Gut and a little bit of knowledge."

"As Wild fans know, if I say something it's usually because I got a...like...I don't just throw stuff out there. It's never been my style. I just think that with Pettersson, there's some behind the scenes stuff there that would probably want to make him go elsewhere."

ru·mor
/ˈro͞omər/

noun
noun: rumour
  1. a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.

Mod note: It’s speculation by Russo, not a Rumor.

Thread prefix has been updated to Speculation.

If Russo had reported “Pettersson wants out of Vancouver” that would be a Rumor.

Russo saying “Pettersson will want out of Vancouver” is Speculation by Russo.

Not sure why. The 9 year rebuild is right on course with a top 30 prospect pool and a team CONSTANTLY competing for a top 25 spot in the league while being to the cap max every year and only 4.5 years left on scratched OEL and his $7.2 million contract

Goddamn being a Flyers fan and being a Canucks fan right now is literally the same thing.

Even if soeculation, are there any players who wouldn't want out of Vancouver right now? Seems like a toxic situation all around.

There's some serious revisionist history going on here in regards to how people view the Oilers organization.

All I know is if Pettersson walks, I'm not letting him off the hook. f*** that. I'm putting some of that on him.

I was personally shocked to see this report by Russo. Because I live in a cave and haven't seen a Canucks game in the last five years.

Of course he wants out. Why wouldn't he? It's one thing to be on a bad team, it's another thing to be on a bad team that's run and owned by people who aren't motivated to alter the status quo at all.

There is no revisionist history, you're just conflating incompetence with a lack of direction. The Oilers situation when McDavid committed to that contract with them is not the same at all as the Canucks situation now.
