oh great now you're creating excuses?I wonder if he’s being coached out of his natural skill set. Be a more complete 2 way player rather than a purely offensive weapon.
Tocchet does seem to hate players who can’t play on both sides of the puck and it’s wouldn’t completely surprise me if EP is butt hurt because it’s costing him production.
It’s not an excuse. I still think he is weak and his face down ass up yoga pose he does on the ice 3 times a game aligns with that.oh great now you're creating excuses?
still haven't heard a good reason for saying we should draft more size vs skill
Pettersson has always been a good defensive player i'm pretty certain all they want is better effort and determination
He's taken steps and looks poised to break out......but the big questions are
Why does this keep happening?
Why does he not look more dynamic and strong after an off season?
Can he be relied upon to earn that contract?
That would go down as one of the worst trades in franchise history.Id like to see EP get traded to Mtl, i think he is exactly what the Habs need, and plays MSL style. What do you give up for him though? Needs to be something Vancounver requires now and has to match salary..
I figure: Caufield (scoring winger) + Gallagher (western boy, gritty tochett style player 3rd line winger) + Arber Xhekaj (D5/6) + CGY 1st '25 (~12oa).
lol... that's what the Habs board says about the trade!! booth cant be true? That would go down as one of the worst trades in franchise history.

Well, the "if" is the only reason a trade is possible.. no? In current play, EP is a complete failure - and overpaid by about $5m/yr.. there has to be realistic trade based on current performance, not past performance. What i proposed is a heavily weighted trade in Van favour.. if you (or other Van fans) think this is the worst trade in history of Canucks, then clearly you guys (after almost 3 years) still believe he is a 1C.. but the stats tell a completely different story..Can't blame Habs fans for not wanting to give up premium assets for Pettersson with the way he's been playing.
But from the Canucks side, there is little reason to sell low.
If Pettersson was on top of his game, this trade is essentially a 100 point all-around center for a 40 goal winger which is terrible value for the team giving up the center. The 1st and Xhekaj's value is offset by Gallagher's negative value, and that's being very generous to Gallagher.

I happen to believe, under a new coach he "might" be able to get back to what he showed earlier in his career. That's the gamble...
So... the only narrative rn is EP will return to to 1C status.. if so, under Tocchet (which i dont believe is possible) his numbers will continue to dwindle, possible he might be traded for alot less after another year of brutal play..
Not sure about you guys, but once a player checks out, chances they regain prior form under same club is close to 0%.
Ps. The worst trade in canucks history was Pedersen for Neely
Disagree.. by far it was Pedersen for Neely.Um actually bub the worst trade in Nucks history was Sprong for Future Considerations

Youre too young to remember.
JT has fallen off of late but was still picking up points.Would I get crucified if I say that he’s been better than JT since Game 3?

This is why people make the linemate argument.JT has fallen off of late but was still picking up points.
You can overlook a bad stretch if production is still there. Unfortunately for most of Petey's slump the production wasn't there along with some awful play.
That said, Miller is a beast but if this team wants to win a Cup, we need Petey to be better than him. Petey is paid like it and more importantly capable of it.
So am I3 points in 4 since the beginning of November. He's coming.
