He needs to produce but I would say he’s one of the few players with a high enough give a shit meter so far. I’m less worried about him than I am Zadorov.
The Bruins were spoiled by Chara, Bergeron, Krejci & Marchand all obliterating normal NHL aging curves. Having 1 guy like that is special but having FOUR on the same team is something I don't think we'll see again for a long time.“Rob Vollman summarizes this quite well in his book Stat Shot: The Ultimate Guide to Hockey Analytics: “Most players hit their peak age by age 24 or 25 then decline gradually until age 30, at which point their performance can begin to tumble more noticeably with the risk of absolute collapse by age 34 or 35.”

How do NHL players age? When do they peak? How quickly do they decline? Questions about player aging in the NHL have been debated for years, and an incredible amount of research has already been do…hockey-graphs.com
I'd like to see a study like this done for elite players only. Take out the 3rd and 4th liners, the guys who really can't afford to lose anything. I'm sure you still see a decline but I bet it's much more gradual and they maintain a high level into their 30's.“Rob Vollman summarizes this quite well in his book Stat Shot: The Ultimate Guide to Hockey Analytics: “Most players hit their peak age by age 24 or 25 then decline gradually until age 30, at which point their performance can begin to tumble more noticeably with the risk of absolute collapse by age 34 or 35.”

It'd be interesting to see it along side the cumulative decrease salary cap commitment as a % of the growing cap year on year too. They did sort of attempt to do this by figuring in only the top players 390 players forwards and 210 defenseman in TOI but that's still an awful lot more than what you're looking for. Their data window is a bit limited, with the study only looking at an 8 year window. The guts of the study though are pretty extensive, I just wish they had expanded their window a bit more.
