Not sure what is worse. Juan Soto getting about 100k per plate appearance, or Elias Lindholm getting about a million bucks per goal (on pace for just 8 goals this season).

Not just concerning is the lack of goals but the lack of shots on net. He has just 80 shots in his past 55 regular season games which is his combined Vancouver and Boston total. In Calgary he averaged somewhere between 2 and 3 shots per game, sometimes closer to 3. So not only are his goals way down, his shots on goal are way down as well.

People keep saying he'll turn it around but maybe this is what he is now, a 10 goal, 30 assist guy who won't hurt you without the puck but doesn't do much to help you with it either.

Hopefully he turns it around after the 4 nations. I have mentioned in other posts he's more of a perimeter player than I remember.

Doesn't seem to want to go to the net for the dirty goal.

Man, that's just depressing. 25 games into his Bruins career I am nowhere near ready to call that lol. I am hoping we at least get a 55-60 point guy that plays solid 2-way hockey. Really there isn't any reason he shouldn't be that guy- he just turned 30 and has skill, that is clear to see. He's not off a to great start, especially not for that salary, but there's still time for this to play out in a way that is good.

Far too soon imo. The team needs skill on the wing. I think we’ve yet to see the best of Elias Lindholm.

Just turned 30 could easily mean like many players, his prime production was ages 24-28. His past 100 NHL games spread across 3 teams now says he is what he is. He's running out of excuses, he's been given every single chance to succeed here. Top line minutes, fixture on the 1st PP unit, etc. etc. Vancouver gave him every chance to succeed but eventually they stopped using him with their top offensive players at 5 on 5.

One thing I noticed is how Vancouver used him on the PP, they operated a lot more from the left side of the offensive zone than the right with Hughes walking the line laterally more often to his left and Lindholm could get fore-hand redirects from the mid-slot on fake shots and passes from Hughes that he's not getting from McAvoy as a righty. In the bumper operating from the right side Lindholm looks uncomfortable and awkward, his feet and body not really positioned the right direction to get off that bumper one-timer. Unless they switch out to a lefty at the top of the Umbrella, I think they'd be better off getting Lindholm on the right-side half wall and move Marchand down to the low spot close to the net. Him in the bumper the way the PP is set up is not working. 29 games in and it's yet to result in a goal. I don't understand how the coaching staff keep going back to it when it's literally resulted in no goals so far as we get closer to the mid-point of the season.

His takeaways are down as well. His career average is 46. He's on pace for 17.

That's a huge drop for someone who has been at times considered one of the premier two-way centers in the league. They have to figure out how to get him going but they must be running out of ideas.

Yeah, I'm out of ideas, short of a demotion. That's why I went to the Calgary board and asked if they'd be interested in taking him back in a cap dump for cap dump scenario.

At this point, they've played Lindholm with Pasta and Zacha, they've played him with Marchand and Brazeau, they've played him with 63 & 88 at the same time. They all seem to be playing well, except Lindholm. IMO, he's dragging down the 2nd line and the 1st PP.

To me, it feels like It's time for some tough love. Lindholm's best seasons came under Darryl Sutter. Maybe he's the kind of player who plays better with a firm hand. I don't know if Sacco has the stones to do that. He was just hired and a demotion or scratch of his boss' prize free agent signing is going to be ugly for Sweeney, but I'm done watching Lindholm mishandle passes and blow opportunities.

Imagine that second line with a productive center. They'd be elite.

Coming in peace as a Flames fan after a Boston fan was gauging interest from Flames fans about trading Lindholm to us.

Unfortunately, that .75-.90 ppg pace has never been his average. He's a guy who has broken 50 points in the league 4 times in his career (and 60 points 3 times). His two good years (74 points, and 82 points) both came when the rest of his line also had career years, and both years he was the lowest scorer on the line (When he had 74 points, Gaudreau had 99 points and Monahan had 82 points. When he had 82 points, Gaudreau had 115 points, and Tkachuk had 104 points).

The key to getting him going would be pairing him with an offensive focused player, and a guy who is incredibly good within 10 feet of the net (Monahan did his best work close in despite not really being a "crash and bang" netfront guy, while Tkachuk would create absolute chaos in front of the net consistently). Every time he doesn't play with those kind of guys, he puts up closer to 45 points. BUT he is generally really strong defensively and doesn't hurt the team when he's playing with high-skill guys.
So you are really describing a third liner that is getting paid as a first liner. I have repeatedly said that since his signing, and ripped his signing before it happened.

Funny how you comment on his away from the play, my grandson and I had a good laugh the other night when I brought up how everyone talks about how good he is away from the play, we started laughing and almost in unison, we suggested he get better in the play.

Him and Zacha over the past 6 games have played exactly the same number of minutes (113). Zacha has 4 goals and 2 assists including 3 game winning goals and he took a demotion from Pastrnak's line by the end of it so they could go back to 63/28/88. Why doesn't Zacha get a chance to be the center with Marchand and Pasta? They are basically spoon-feeing Lindholm opportunities because he's the franchise's most recent big UFA signing. Because of Lindholm's struggles, Zacha by default has become your best offensive center but can't get a look with the two best wingers no matter what he does. Desperately trying to get Lindholm going.

It's worth a try. My only thought on why they don't try it is that it didn't really work last year. They had a 48.9 xG% together last year in almost 200 minutes of ice time. (They have a 30.8% in limited minutes this year.)

They have been force-feeding Lindholm primo minutes and linemates to try to get him going. I was patient for the first 20 games, even the first 27. That's a third of the season. I'm out of patience now and feel like the carrot didn't work. Time for the stick.

To get him going, they need to put him on the third line. Move Zacha and Coyle on the 2 first lines. He needs lesser opposition except when a defensive task is required.

IMO, Bruins are trying to much, opposite of what they want comes out their move. PUT HIM WITH 11 AND 47. I bet a 5 $ he gets started.

I agree, that's what Vancouver did.

Coyle is tied with Tyler Johnson, and trailing Poitras and Oesterle in assists on the year. Not sure how that's going to help anyone in the top six if they move him back up there again this year

I have been hoping he has been playing with a minor injury since camp but if not and the new CBA allows one buyout not counting against the cap, he may be it.

He has been underwhelming.

The last 10 games Coyle has been better than Lindholm offensively. I see no issue putting Lindholm at 3C.
Coyle has 2g1a in his last ten, and he isn't taking faceoffs. Whatever he's working through I don't think it's worth tanking a top line for. He's better off on the third line with two other guys who can take draws, play physical and clean up garbage around the net.

Lindholm has been doing that on his own. I guess you haven't noticed Pastrnak is on pace for 26 goals and Lindholm has responsibility for some of it.

I have zero issues pairing Zacha\Pasta as L1 and eventually Coyle\Marchand. Coyle's
2G 1A while injured is coming with wings who haven't broken 20G in a season.

Coyle is 3 goals one assist and a + 3 in the last 5. Last year ain't that far.
Meanwhile on the same span EL is +1 and 0,0 and 0.
Discussion was on getting EL going. I stand by what I said. He needs lesser opposition.

I might be wrong.... but in the last 5 , Coyle has 3 goals + 1 assist....

You want to tell me where you're pulling your stats from? Last 10, Coyle as 4G 1A
while Lindholm has 1G 3A. Coyle has points in 4 of the 10.
