Longer the season goes and their is no extension I think the writing will be on the wall and Chevy needs to move him, this organization cannot afford to let UFA's like Ehlers walk for free. I prefer we re sign him but if he wants out he wants out
On the other hand, it's unlikely the Jets go very far in this promising season without Ehlers contribution at 5v5 and now on PP1.

He is in a very strong bargaining position; the rumours are just going to escalate over the year but so will his value if he stays healthy. Good on him--he has handled himself with class over his entire tenure here and deserves the opportunity to play on a team that will utilize his full potential. The Jets can finally make a better case that they are doing so, but is it too little, too late?

Is he in the driver's seat? How many teams want a player who can't stay healthy? Vs if he had just signed at beginning of season team is willing to pay a bit more as they have less questions about his health.
