I'd be interested in Jiricek, but have no interest in using Ehlers to get Chabot.Wrap Ehlers up in a trade for Chabot or Jiricek.

I think Nik Ehlers trade will be similar to the return the Wild got for Kevin Fiala (Brock Faber and 1st round pick). Hopefully we can get a defensemen like the kid the Wild got!
Partly. The reality for me is that Chabot is not worth his 8M cap hit and he's also not playing a position we desperately need, and even if LHD was a need, his playstyle isn't one we need at this time either.Injury history?
Hasn't been good in the playoffs, trade him. Who else hasn't been good in the playoffs? Trade them too.

He's an offensive LHD that plays poor defense. His contract is bad value IMO. And if the Jets are using one of their 2 most valuable trade chips at the moment (Ehlers or McGroarty) on something, we should be targeting things we need. C's, RHDs that can play defense, and or picks and prospects that can either be used, or used as currency to get what we need.
It's also why I don't understand any of our writers also throwing Chychrun out there in regards to Ehlers. If we move Ehlers, we need to do it to hopefully improve or solve a problem. Chychrun only has 1 year left like Ehlers so we're in the same boat. He's also a lefty but can play on the right, but he's also bad defensively. And we currently have Pionk and Schmidts contracts. It just doesn't make sense to me to use your valuable trade chips to not try to potentially improve holes on the team.
Him and Helle have been offenders #1 and #2 of garbage recent playoff performance compared to their regular season standards.Hasn't been good in the playoffs, trade him. Who else hasn't been good in the playoffs? Trade them too.
sir this is an arby'sRutger and Stanley for

Rutger and Stanley for Ehlers, who says no?

That would be the most of the team. I’m not joking, collectively we have been a disaster in the playoffs with this core. Not trying to make excuses for Nik in the playoffs. He hasn’t been good enough but it’s a much bigger issue than Nik.
I think we just need some accountability. Nik has underperformed pretty much his entire playoff career while pretty much everyone else has had at least 1 decent run. Most of them came at the same time in 2018 but still. Nik is just not built for the playoffs.
I don’t think TNSE are big on accountability. IF Nik goes it will be because he wants a change or at least that is my belief. Like Maurice before him, we’re going to need Nik to break up with us.
Definitely not an excuse for his PO performance (since that has been underwhelming for years) but he did just withdraw himself from playing the world championship for Denmark because of injury. Said he has been having neck issues for 8 months and sometimes would struggle to sit and eat because of pain. Also says that he could play if he really needed to but that he wants to heal up and be ready for the Jets next season.
... to another team.Article in Danish news this morning confirming he had two herniated discs right before the start of last season that affected his neck. Says he is finally fully recovered and ready to go...

If he had two herniated discs that might also complicate contact negotiations. The Jets would be reluctant to make a big long-term investment if his health / durability is questionable. Maybe they want to check him out in camp and assess things before making a big contract offer.Article in Danish news this morning confirming he had two herniated discs right before the start of last season that affected his neck. in terms of playoffs, singling out Ehlers is bullshit. It is a team game and the jets are simply not built for the playoffs, and the jets have to date not done much to address the different demands of playoffs and officiating. But i believe they are trying to balance lines and beef up defence. They know what the problems are.I think we just need some accountability. I won't single out Ehlers because i believe he has been misused most of his career and i believe that our new coach is aware of that. I think he will be signed. He's basically the only one who hasn't shown up even once. He needs to be singled out because he never, not even once, has shown up.
Beefing up the defence and balancing lines won't make Ehlers suddenly stop becoming a pure perimeter player in the playoffs. He needs to figure that out on his own and so far it's not looking like it's going to happen here.
