this guy and Chiarot were a f***ing nightmare in the blue paint.
Key word being other organizations... if OUR organizations can't hit on them, then what good are they to us?Other organizations maximize those thirds all the time.
The 5ths don't phase in me in the slightest. But those thirds...
That's still promising defenseman, prospective starting goalie territory.
My guess is the people complaining would complain no matter what we do. Because that's their specialty. Glass half empty people. Go outside and get some vitamin D. This board is depressing.I don't think the people complaining have taken a gander at the depth chart. If one injury occurred the Leafs would have had to have played 40 year old Mark Giordano. Toronto is going into the playoffs. They needed someone to come in and compete for minutes. Edmundson is a #6-7 guy who can battle with Benoit for ice. I think the move is pretty solid when it comes to who they targeted.
My only beef is why Edmundson cost more than Lyubushkin? Lube (75% retained) + Slepets cost a 3rd + 6th, Edmundson (50% retained) pulled a 3rd + 5th. I thought Edmundson would have been the cheaper of the two.
I think it does improve our playoff team though. The hockey season is two different sports. We could have gotten four prospects. Why trade away some of our few remaining picks if it doesn't really improve the team?
In 2022, we took Hildeby with our fourth & Grebenkin with our fifth - these are real prospects.Key word being other organizations... if OUR organizations can't hit on them, then what good are they to us?
That would be so LeafyI'm a Leaf fan in the Detroit area. People here are convinced that Holl is coming back to Toronto. Please say it aint so Brad.
Cause I watch hockey. How do you know his play has 100% fallen off???
If Edmundson can't play with Rielly or on the right side what was the point in acquiring him? We already have Lagesson. Sure he's taller than him but will he play any better than him?
I think the latter two have looked just as good as edmundsonId rather have insurance on the team incase the team goes on a run then not have any insurance and play one of Gio/Lajoie/Lagersson.
Rielly-LybushkinI defended the Boosh deal, but I don’t see how this deal makes sense for us…
Like if he’s healthy, sure, he plays a playoff style that we can use, maybe help the PK, but we have a huge logjam of LD now.
Rielly, Brodie, McCabe, Benoit, Gio, Lagesson & now Edmundson.
Cause I watch hockey.
Don’t give Keefe any ideasApparently he paired with Rielly in Moose Jaw?
Looks that way, now that's something that makes ya go hmmmm.Apparently he paired with Rielly in Moose Jaw?
Eh I don’t mind it, but for people who are underwhelmed, the missing ingredients have been these kind of unglamorous role players. So this is what it’s supposed to look like.
In terms of asset management, bleeding out picks is maybe not ideal. But we just need to start keeping some of these guys so we don’t have to solve the same problems over and over with more and more picks.
Except the shit he did with the Habs were pens that weren't called on us and now that he's a leaf they'll be called liberally.Solid addition, guy is a big physical mean D man who knows how to keep the front of the net clear.
For the people crying about this addition, go rewatch our series vs Montreal, this guy and Chiarot were a f***ing nightmare in the blue paint. Expecting him to get a few penalties for cross checking, but also punish the opposition in the crease. Big boy who knows how to use his weight and plays a mean game 75% retained, he will be important in the playoffs.
So, don't watch. Seems simple to me.Our D is truly stacked with pawn shop type acquisitions, really uninteresting to watch.
We'll definitely have a bigger look in the handshake lineDidn't you also say that anyone who thought that Lybushkin is an asset was an idiot or didn't know hockey or something? And Boosh has looked pretty good.
Let's wait and see where we are on Friday. The high retention suggests that we might still be moving some pieces around.
