I don’t hate this deal but do wonder where he will fit.
He kills penalty, clear the net, tough and physical, breakup cycle.

If this guy is Wirth 3rd and 5th, we should be able to get that for Brodie and not retain salary.

I read that the 3rd round pick was from the Islanders and the 5th round pick from Chicago. Does that mean we still have our own 3rd and 5th rounders to trade?

We are replacing Brodie with Edmundson? So we paid a 3rd and a 5th to downgrade our defence?
Brodie has been terrible for quite some time. Any puck that touches his stick in the ozone instantly kills the play. He’s making terrible defensive mistakes now and is soft as melted butter. He looks okay next to Rielly but has looked terrible next to McCabe or Liljegren. Not sure where he fits and given how soft he is, not sure he’s a Tre type dman.

The fact he was considered for the captaincy in Montreal after their finals run is a good intangible as well.

We will finally see if a big D makes a difference, this is easily the biggest/heaviest/toughest group we seen here with this core.

He's 30 as well.
It's also the slowest

Brodie has been atrocious going back to last season.

Between him and Lilljegren, they're actively hurting the team on a game to game basis.
I was Brodie's biggest fan, the guy was MONEY back there. He fell off hard second half last year and he's been slow and soft this year. People need to compute the guy is a shell of what he was and I can't see him being an asset when the playoffs start.

Being an amateur scout for the Leafs must feel like being as useless as the guy that installs the turn signal lights on a BMW.

Usually bigger is, but Brodie is beyond slow and a guy like Benoit is surprisingly fine foot speed wise, ditto Boosh for that matter. McCabe is fine as well, actually has good spurt speed.

Rielly - Lyubushkin
Benoit - McCabe
Edmundson - Liljegren

Not sure where Brodie really fits here…

Brodie is way better than Benoit, as much as I like Benoit, I'd take Brodie on the left side playing 18-20 min a night over Benoit playing 18-20 min a night.

Rielly-?
Brodie-Lily
Benoit - Boosh

Boosh is paired with Rielly but if things were slotted properly should not be higher than #4., Lily Brodie play well together.

Our PP is piss poor, Edmunston is a good PKer. Not an earth shattering move but a move with subtle purpose.
