I guess we’ll see. I don’t think it literally dries up more than the big boys move closer to their career averages of the last say 2/3 years. I know they’re both going to put up god like numbers.

We have more depth this year and some actual top 6 support. Our D men are much better at moving the puck up this year compared to every other season McDrai have been on the team. They're both going to have career years barring injury.

If the Oilers had wanted Mrazek they would have signed him last offseason.

His stock hasn't gone up since then since he hasn't played.

Mrazek isn't supposed to be a long term option in this scenario, he's a 2.5 year bandaid while you develop Skinner and you save 700k on the cap in there short term. My impression was that Skinner is the long term solution

Ok... so now you are starting to get it.

We agree that Mrazek isn't a long term solution and neither is Koskinen. They are both band-aids.

But this is what you aren't getting:
  • Why would we sign up for another two years of a $3.8M for a bandaid? You haven't answered that.
  • Wouldn't we rather have Koskinen's full $4.5M off the books to spend, if we want, on any UFA goalie available?...
  • Smith is still signed for $2M in the "vet mentor to Skinner" role for next year. That's a much better use of cash.
  • If Smith is healthy and Skinner is solid, we are good for next year
  • If Smith is healthy and Skinner is terrible, well then we have $4.5M to spend on a goalie
  • If Smith LTIR'd, well then we have up to $6.5M for a goalie which opens up many long term options
  • Trading for Mrazek just perpetuates this circle of band-aid solutions. If Skinner isn't the long term solution, we're going to need to find one. Mrazek's salary would prevent us from being able to do that

How often have they played those 3 teams?

I dunno? I don’t follow the Leafs religiously. But to have a notorious leaf “fan” take shots at a weak division while your division features Buffalo, Ottawa and Montreal is a bit much don’t you think?

Toronto has faced those three teams four times, all of them being wins.

Oilers are facing their fourth game against one of the bottom three teams in their division tonight.

Thank you for contributing to this thread. Means a lot.

Me pointing out that the Leafs division has weak teams isn’t dumb, it’s a fact. You thinking that’s dumb however…..is kinda dumb.

It's dumb when it's meaningless and irrelevant.

34/Hollywood North is back with his "weak division" garbage. The Leafs and Oilers have both played seven games against Pacific division teams this season. :dunce:

Pacific division

Division averages:

Atlantic division teams:

24.38 standings points
16th in NHL standings (16.125)
Average goals for: 66.88
Average goals against: 70.00

Pacific division teams:

25.38 standings points
16th in NHL standings (16.125)
Average goals for: 69.63
Average goals against: 65.75

So on average, Pacific division teams have more points, score more goals, and allow less goals against.

Therefore, the Pacific division is actually slightly better than the Atlantic, not worse.

I for one hopes for a weak Atlantic division.

They also have 4 top 10 teams in their division.

Our record against non-Atlantic teams is 11-5-1 this year, so they're doing just fine against non-divisional opponents.
So the Atlantic and Pacific account for almost the entire top 10.

Whoda thunk it hey?

4 in Atlantic and 3 in Pacific.

Edit: it is 6. 3 in each.

Still. Not to shabby
Don’t worry about that poster. He’ll constantly stick up for leaf fans making outrageous claims and make false claims himself (not 4 top 10 teams in that division) while claiming to not be bias and attacking other fanbases. In reality both Edm and TO are doing phenomenal so far this year and neither team deserves to be knocked here. Some leaf fans like that one have a hard time being happy that their team is doing well without knocking down other teams
